March 2, 20251 yr I'm about six weeks into FS2024 ownership. I know it's a new platform and will have bugs, but the ATC on this is seemingly out of control, particularly when compared to FS2020. For instance, as soon as I lift off I'm asking for flight following whether I want it or not. I can live with that. But, if I file a flight plan...as soon as I take off it's handing me to traffic control, and then the nuttiness begins. I (the virtual pilot here) am asking for a change in destination which ATC grants and then immediately wants me to fly at a ridiculously low altitude, usually between 1700 and 2400 feet which is much to low for anything bigger than a 172. I'll ask for an altitude increase which it grants and then once again I (the virtual pilot) am asking for a destination change (which I don't want) which is granted and then I'm told to descend to 2400 feet or thereabouts. This exchange goes on, over and over, until I get disgusted and end the flight. Going into settings and shutting down ATC entirely makes no difference at all. What in the world is going on here? Default ATC, is like buying an Amazon Echo unit and saying "Alexa, what should I do now?"😉
March 2, 20251 yr Reading this, it sounds almost like the atc interaction is happening automatically.. are you actively pressing the options to talk or is it doing it on its own? 9800X3d, 4090, 64 GB DDR5 6000 RAM, 4 TB NVME (2x2), 4K Ultra + Framegen

I think you have the AI copilot taking care off the comms, you need to disable that. March 3, 20251 yr Author It is being done by the AI copilot, I believe. I see if I can disable that; I've all ready gone through the assistances menu to no avail. Thanks for the suggestions.

March 3, 20251 yr With this free addon you can turn it on and off in flight. But yes ATC in 2024 is a disaster compared to 2020 which works reasonably well. AI Pilot for MSFS 2024 for Microsoft Flight Simulator | MSFS
March 3, 20251 yr Author OK, I've been able to at least disable ATC so it's stopped driving me to drink. Sagoland, you are correct in that it doesn't work anywhere near as well as 2020 which is surprising. I appreciate the assistance from all of you. 🙂
