What are these aps even needed? I have not used any of these aps since P3D and I've had less problems or aps to worry about with MSFS 2020.

Can someone explain how these aps work together to improve FS 2024?

They are not needed unless one wants to record a video (I use OBS studio though) or use any of the nvidia filters.

I'm generally very happy with how MSFS2024 looks, but in certain circumstances I find that it can look a bit "bland / washed out" compared to MSFS2020. Hence, I wanted to test RTX HDR. Which I don't fully understand yet - does HDR need to be enabled in Windows settings? I think there was a thread discussing the feature recently here on avsim.

I'm using the Nvidia app with MSFS 2024 without any problems, except that the filters don't work (crash the sim) when FG is enabled. I don't use Nvidia inspector though.

Update: I only ask because I want to try Lossless Scaling and I'm wondering if these aps are needed to get LC working properly?

The other ap is RIVA to lock fps. Too many aps to keep track of and it makes things more confusing.

I'm fairly sure geforce experience and the nvidia app is not needed to use lossless scaling.

In terms of rivatuner - that has many advantages besides locking FPS, including a very detailed performance overlay (lots of sensor data can be selected in combination with MSI afterburner).

IMSI afterburner

There's another ap I forgot to mention. That's too many aps for me to keep up with. I decided a long time ago to keep it simple.

The only extra ap I have installed now is the Intel OC ap and I only used it once.

Hi Cap'n, if you have an HDR monitor (which I assume you do from your post), I don't think you have to do anything other than turn HDR on in Windows and in the sim. I've been running HDR for two or three years now and never done anything else than this and the results are just magnificent. Colours and lighting are just breathtaking for me (Philips 55" HDR monitor)

Ryzen 9 7900X, Corsair H150 AIO cooler, 64 Gb DDR5, Asus X670E Hero m/b, 3090ti, 13Tb NVMe, 8Tb SSD, 16Tb HD, 55" Philips 4k HDR monitor, EVGA 1600w ps, all in Corsair 7000D airflow case. Sims in use - 2020, 2024, XP-12 and -11, FSX/SE, P3Dv4.5 and v5.4. DCS and AFS2 installed but rarely used

I agree - HDR looks amazing! It's just that I record a lot of videos, which takes forever to upload to YT using native HDR. I was somehow under the impression that RTX HDR will use some nvidia AI magic to convert SDR to HDR, negating the need to enable HDR in the sim.

Use the Microsoft HDR Calibration tool to tune your HDR.  The very last step enables you to keep vibrancy at default or to raise it.  I use 50% at that stage.

download the fix Nvidia driver 572.75

I'm on that one - but not sure if it's needed though. Anyone got the link to the changelog?

Ahh, ok. I had not heard of RTX HDR so know nothing about it. I would have thought though that if you've got native HDR capability, what you really need is a decent tool to convert the other way (HDR to SDR). I don't do much video stuff, but when I do I use the X-Box game bar, which seems to do that automagically. That's also what I use for screenshots as it takes both a .jxr (HDR) and .png (SDR) each time.
