April 7, 20251 yr Hi, everybody, after hesitating a while I installed MSFS2024 and am really very happy with the new sim. I am just dealing with the 172 Skyhawk to learn the fundamentals - but hey, 2024 is so much more amazing than the old one (devine flight model!). There is one issue I cannot solve - although having watched loads of excellent YT videos - the thing with the Custom views which for me are indispensable especially in airliners. I use to put them (Cockpit, Overhead, Pedestal a.s.o) as buttons on my Streamdeck. I learned I have to make a new dublicate of the KEYBOARD GENERAL DEFAULT profile for every Airplane (Logic?) and define (my choice) "ALT + 1", "ALT + 2" etc. to "LOAD CUSTOM VIEW 1" , "LOAD CUSTOM VIEW 1" etc. and "CTRL + ALT + 1", "CTRL + ALT + 2" to "SAVE CUSTOM VIEW 1", "SAVE CUSTOM VIEW 2" etc. And now comes the glitch for me: It works fine in the first Aircraft I apply it (in my Case the 172 Skyhawk) - but If I load a different aircraft (in my case the Beech Baron) smile on my face disappears: - First time I load the Baron it it comes with the default KEYBOARD GENERAL profile (that is correct because I defined it as "Default") - I dublicate it and name it KEYBOARD GENERAL BARON G58 - I try to save one or two views by CTRL + ALT + Number. - If I want to load the view again by ALT + Number I get the (relative to pilot) views from the Cessna Skyhawk! I did not save the Default profile for "all aircraft", just "as default". The missing logics are allready discussed - the save view Key should i.m.h.o. be saved in the Airplane specific profile - but the airplane specific profile is allways empty and cannot be supplemented by any key. Maybe (or almost sure) I do something wrong - can anybody help me and put a smile on my face again? April 7, 20251 yr Yes, the controller assignments manual that comes with msfs2024 will show you the way to do it! Let's see where did I put that manual? Hmmm, no I guess there isn't one. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Hmmm, no I guess there isn't one. 😄 I see and translate this as "nobody knows the answer". So I have to wait on the release of MU1 (Manual Update 1)... The only solution seems to be to define new custom views again in every aircraft whenever I change it. April 8, 20251 yr Author Another question still, Can the "specific" profiles being populated by any means? The 172 Skyhawk i.e. has only got an empty "specific profile"? Or are the control allocations in the profiles unchangeably defined by the software (what is in the general or the airplanes or the specific)? I would like to put the throttle quadrant levers into this profile instead of making a copy of the "airplanes" profiles for every single airplane. I have tried that - but the MSFS202 profiles have all the keys from MSFS2020 - but those who are important and indispensable in MSFS2024 like SHIFT+C, SHIFT+X and so on are missing. For me it is to much kerfuffle to replace all the new MSFS2024 Keys by the old 2020ies - I rather do without the custom views if they are not available at the moment. I do not understand why the custom views of the first airplane are saved generally for all airplanes. Hope ASOBO will fix this in the future. April 8, 20251 yr One way which I use that works from scratch is to set specific and airplane to NONE. And use the top "General Controls" to make all the assignments. Since there isn't anything in "Airplane Controls" and "Specific Control" they won't interfere and complicate. But you have to program from scratch because you start with nothing assigned. To make a specific assignment for a particular plane, just make a new General profile and name it for the plane. In other words use COPY. The new profile starts as a full copy of the old one, but then you make changes specific to that plane. Doing it this way, is very close to how it was done in 2020. Except now you have the new features of the 2024 controls app, like whether you want to "repeat" the input or not. If you don't "repeat" then for instance when you push a key to increase sim rate it only jumps up one notch like from 2X to 4X instead of just keep increasing as you hold down the key. This is one example how the new 2024 controller app has more features. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. April 8, 20251 yr Author Interesting way to simplfy the profiling - I gonna try that! I have found many strange quirks with the custom views, including certain assigned keys not registering, and causing the plane to jerk to the left. I also noticed that if I save a controller profile for one plane, I have to quit MSFS2024 and restart if I want to save, load or to activate profiles for a different plane.
