Winwing MCDU assistance in 2020...

Featured Replies

Hoping someone here can help.

I got my PFP 7 today.  Unfortunately I also ordered a PFP 3N and it shows in the commodity list online but I only got the PFP 7.  No one is available from Winwing to assist.  Fingers crossed.

My question is what do I do with the PFP 7?  So I downloaded the Simapp PRO.  There are zero instructions pertinent to the PFP unit.  I navigated to the documents section and there is no PFP 7 manual so I downloaded the PFP 3N manual however it say to refer to the simapp pro app and manual which to my prior point has nothing on any of the PFP units...

So.... what do I need to do to get it to show something other than the winwing logo?

Kind of a lackluster first experience sadly but the unit itself looks and feel great, especially for the price point.  Everything else, not so much LOL

Hi psolk,

I have the Airbus MCDU.  You'll need to install the Simapp Pro from wingwing, latest version.  Once you have it installed and running, you might get a notification to also update the firmware for your PFP 7.  It is really not that difficult.  Just make sure that the aircraft you are using the device for is compatible, if it is, once you turn on the batteries in a cold and dark mode the device will turn on...easy peasy

Hope this helps you out

Thank you, I am not even getting that far.  It is not showing up under devices in Simapp Pro.  I will try rebooting the system and trying again in a bit

Yea, try a reboot.  It should work.

For them to work, you need to load into the sim, load into the aircraft it supports and have Simapp Pro running. The 7 should work on the PMDG 777. If you want it to work with other aircraft, you'll need some other software and a profile.

That worked thank you, I have too many USB devices so I had to disconnect the rest and let it boot up once on its own then it all worked!  Time to order another for the FO side 🙂

What other software/profile works for the 7? I purchased one as well (shame on me for not doing better research) and was under the impression that the unit was configurable for other planes in 2024. I REALLY don't want to buy a MCDU/FMC per aircraft.

You can use Mobiflight. I believe some profiles are available on flightsim.to - I haven't got the Boeing ones yet, so haven't played around with those.

Went and looked. Nothing for the 777 FMC. A lot of good stuff for the mini FCU. Guess I'll have to keep it boxed until something comes out for it. If anyone has a solution Please post. I'll do the same if I find something.

As I understand it the PFP7 is designed to work with the 777 already. Just need to have their software running.

I got it to load once with the 777 last night, everything was perfect.  Woke up this am and SimApp Pro gave a notice about an update.  Updated and now nothing in the unit's display lines up anymore...  This is also the only device I use that isn't hot swappable and requires me to exit the sim and restart every time I want to re-test something.  Unfortunately fast loading is not 2020's strength LOL

Yep, looks like the latest SimApp Pro SW which the app doesn't tell you is a beta when it tells you there is an update is a beta the breaks the PFP display.  Uninstalled, reverted back to the version I installed last night and all is working.

So if you have one of the PFP units don't update Simapp Pro...
