I generally enjoy looking at the scenery when I am flying in MSFS 2020.......and then I see something like this, and my OCD subroutine kicks in A mix of generic and fabulously blurry terrain near Mount Skala (east of ENML Molde in Norway) that instantly shattered the immersion. I really hate seeing word not allowed like this, and a quick check of the Bing maps online reveals the source of the problem. A lonely cloud sitting right over that spot.

I am sure that there will be plenty of places like this in MSFS 2020 (and probably also MSFS 2024). That French naval dockyard southwest of LFRB Brest Bretagne springs to mind I suppose that this is inevitable, but it is incredibly frustrating.

All the military sites are like this so not surprising about the navy dockyard in Brest. All the french AFB location are like this.

If you like scenery you should consider installing 2024 alongside 2020 as the scenery, lighting and colours are superior.  I have been exclusively 2024 since release, so the image you posted does look last gen to my eyes - especially the incorrect colours and green tinge to the terrain.

The scenery surrounding this terrain texture horror story is perfectly fine. It just annoys me that such a mess can be considered acceptable in a next generation flight simulator. Surely some sort of AI code could be used to identify areas like this, which scans the textures around the problem areas, and then renders suitable high resolution replacement textures to match the rest? That has to be a better solution than leaving garbage like this on display.

I would be curious to know if this issue also exists in MSFS 2024. I suspect that it will, because that cloud is in the Bing image online.

Only if you haven't seen 2024.  After five months with 2024, 2020 does look last gen.

Why not install 2024 and run it alongside 2020?  You can continue with 2020 for compatibility with addons, but gain experience with 2024 to see if its as bad as you've been led to believe. My guess is you will almost immediately switch to 2024 for GA flights.

2024 orthos are no better than 2020. It is a lottery: some areas are better, some are the same and some are worse.

Military bases are blurred in Bing in any version, you have a Map enhacement app that allows you to use other providers in both MFS and X-plane although it is paid if you want to have more providers.

One of the advantages of X-Plane so criticized here is that it allows you to make your own orthos offline for free with ortho4xp, hopefully something similar someday in MFS.

My goodness man, does MS pay you royalties to jump into completely unrelated threads and try to convince people to switch to 2024 or is it just a hobby?

And then when people politely say no you try even HARDER to convince them and push your viewpoints in their unrelated topics.

I'm fairly certain Christopher and everyone here are capable of making their own decisions.

Unrelated?  He stated he was curious if 2024 had the same issue.  I did not suggest he switch sims, I was very clear - 'Why not install 2024 and run it alongside 2020?  You can continue with 2020 for compatibility with addons, but gain experience with 2024'.

I think I've had enough of being criticised like this for a positive attitude towards 2024.  If I was Greazer I would expect the abuse, but not by trying to be positive.

I think your enthusiasm is great Brits, just a time and a place man, that was all I was saying.  We can have differing opinions.

And yes, he asked if it was the same in '24.  So, is it or did they overcome the bing issue in 24?

There is no need for bickering about this. MrBitstFlyer is clearly very passionate about MSFS 2024, and there is nothing wrong with that. We have all been guilty (if that is the right word) of vociferously voicing our support for various simulators and products over the years. Quite why only a handful of people listened to me when I said that Flight Unlimited 2 and 3 were miles better than FS2000 and FS2002 is beyond my ability to understand, but I simply had to accept that most members of the flightsim community were a weird bunch with deeply flawed opinions
