May 14, 20251 yr I forgot I took some screenshots a few months ago I never shared on here. I flew a Ryan Air cargo Saab 340 from Kodiak (PADQ) to Anchorage, Alaska (PANC). Ryan Air started in 1953 and has grown into an excellent freight and passenger flying airline. They currently fly to 70 villages in Alaska. I ended up being vectored for an ILS 7R when I arrived. The SF34 is from Carenado and I've not really found it to work well with the "new" UNS system. I just navigated via airways / "green needles" and that worked a lot better. We filed this routing at 15000: ODK V438 HOM V435 ENA V456 TED. The trip took a bit over an hour. MSFS 2024 is really showing off here with the natural majestic beauty found in Alaska and 2024's lighting. Hope you enjoy! I see the notes for the airport state that it's "not recommended" to depart runway 26 and 29 if the mountains are obscurred or during darkness. I can see why. But we're light today headed back to PANC and we can make the early turn out with the strong west winds. Not much time to turnout to miss this lol We pickup the IFR as we find some "sucker holes" and get on top It's quite beautiful here! Intercepting V438 (ODQ outbound 359R) Leaving Kodiak Island Ryan Air! That's my airline lol! A whole of bunch of cloud layers as we climb above the Gulf of Alaska (Pacific Ocean) Approaching Homer Spit - it's about 4.5 miles long on the southern tip of the Kenai Peninsula Turning towards ENA vor Wilderness awaits beneath! We also got a free plane wash 🙂 grabbing the localizer for 7R at PANC I was just thinking... WOW as I made this turn to final... I would love to visit here someday Looking NW at Mt Susitna (almost 60 miles away) The upgraded visuals in 2024 are just so much more realistic than I've seen, the textures, the trees, God rays between the mountains... amazing What a view! | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
May 14, 20251 yr Just fantastic, Ryan! Can't beat Anchorage as a sim destination. And that light...so beautiful.

May 15, 20251 yr Stunning pictures, Ryan. How does the Saab 340b fly since I finally picked up FS2024. Darryl

Darryl I'd say it hand flies okay, and works well with radio tuning and VOR/LOC. But I'm not able to get the EHSI to work with the UNS at all... so that's a carenado issue but I'm not sure if they know how to fix it. So if you want to fly just prepare to fly it as /A or VOR/traditional nav only. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
May 18, 20251 yr Beautiful (twilight) pictures out of Alaska, Ryan... (And I can tell why you might have a fondness for this airline...🙂...) ... BTW, the Saab 340...is it available in MSFS2024 Marketplace (aka Xbox for me...🙂...) ...Or maybe you picked it up elsewhere...just curious...? Thanks for sharing...!
