May 23, 20251 yr I'm wondering if any of you that have had your assistance settings, controller profiles, or community folders wiped launch directly from Steam or the Xbox app. ChatGPT helped me create a .exe to clear shaders, rolling cache, start the brunner software, and head tracking before starting the sim. It worked wonderfully, BUT this was the first time my assistance settings and controller profiles got reset/wiped. Normally, I launch from the default created shortcut or directly from the xbox app. Now obviously I had no idea what I was doing when making that .exe, but chatGPT was helpful in setting it up. Just curious as to what could have caused the wipe as that was the only thing that was changed. I know that you can launch MSFS from FSUIPC, AddonsLinker, and others. So, if you use any of those programs, are you seeing wipes more often than those opening MSFS from the Xbox app or the default shortcut? May 23, 20251 yr I use Addons Linker to launch both MSFS 2020 and 2024 and I have never had my settings wiped. I cannot say if AL is the reason why or not, but I have never had the wiped settings problem. EDIT: I also use the MS Store version of both sims. I would be wary of an .exe created by me, but directed by instructions from ChatGPT. That .exe seems to have done more than you intended. That .exe seems to have done more than you intended. it could be coincidence....i didn't start the sim fully after a crash...it wasn't due to the launcher, but i think the game must get angry if it doesn't get a full launch. idk at this point, it was just convenient. May 23, 20251 yr I was just checking Addon Linker to see if I am using the fast launch option...and I don't even SEE the option in there anymore. I could swear I used to use a faster launch option with MSFS2020, which bypassed some of the screens like the Blackshark AI screen. I was wondering about using that option with MSFS2024, but I guess I can't, since I can't find the option in Addon Linker's settings. '24 loads faster anyway so it's not a big deal I guess, but every second counts, I could be flying that second vs. watching a loading screen.
