When I go into the Controls menu for a device, I change something and it asks me to name a new profile. I give it a name and click OK and it seems fine. But when I go back to the menu to select the profile right after that, it's nowhere to be found. Until I figure this out, I can't change any bindings.

More Info: If I use the CREATE command to create a completely new profile, then it populates as I am expecting. However, that does not help me since that gives you a profile with no bindings in it. But it does work. But a profile defined by using the DUPLICATE command or by just changing a binding in a default profile does not work, at least for me.

Also, if I drop out of the BETA, which I guess means I go to SU2, saving profiles works fine.

I had a similar issue with this in 2024, starting from the graphics to the peripherals installed. What I gathered is related to corrupt files saved in the cloud. You might end up deleting all the cloud information and starting fresh; that's what many people did. You can save a lot of time if you back up your working controls before you attempt the nuclear option. 

It is not a big issue, probably no more than an hour to get everything back. That's what we get with this "cloud."

If you decide to go with it, this is a very good tutorial to help you.

 

For Steam users:

1. Uncheck "Keep Game saves in the cloud for Microsoft Flight Simulator" in Steam properties
2. Delete the folder: Steam\userdata[usernumber]\2537590
3. Restart MSFS 2024
4. Complete initial setup and test flight
5. Re-enable Steam Cloud Sync

For Microsoft Store/Xbox App users:

1. Close MSFS 2024
2. Open Command Prompt
3. Run: start shell:appsFolder\Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe!App -DeleteCloudSaves

• Several reports suggest that MSFS2024's cloud sync system may overwrite local control profiles with older or default versions, causing loss of saved changes56.

• Workaround: One user attempted to resolve this by deleting the contents of the cloud sync folder at:

How to disable Cloud Sync in MSFS2024

 

Based on recent sources, there are two main methods to disable cloud sync in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, depending on your version:

 

For Microsoft Store/Xbox App Version:

1. Disconnect your PC from the internet

2. Delete the cloud save files located in:

`C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe\SystemAppData\wgs`[^1]

 

For Steam Version:

1. Turn off Steam Cloud sync in Steam settings

2. Delete the save folder in:

`Steam/userdata/<userid>/2537590`[^1]

 

Alternatively, you can use this command in Command Prompt (not PowerShell) to delete cloud saves:

Note: After deleting cloud saves, the simulator will restart and take you through initial setup[^1]. This will reset all progress and settings, but allows you to start fresh without cloud sync issues.

Disabling Cloud Sync in MSFS2024 depends on the platform you are using:

For Steam Users:

1. Go to your Steam Library.
2. Right-click on "Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024".
3. Select "Properties".
4. Uncheck the box that says "Keep game saves in the Steam Cloud for Microsoft Flight Simulator".

To completely remove any cloud-saved data:

1. Open File Explorer and go to the following directory: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\
2. Find the folder corresponding to your Steam profile ID (it will be a number).
3. Inside that folder, delete the folder named 2537590.
4. Restart Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. You might see the initial onboarding screens again. Launch a flight.
5. If everything works as expected, you can close the game and re-enable Steam Cloud Sync in the Properties if you wish to use it again in the future (though this would then start syncing again).

For Microsoft Store/Xbox App Users:

There isn't a direct option to disable Cloud Sync. However, you can delete the cloud save data. Be aware that this action will permanently erase your logbook, custom control profiles, and settings. Achievements already unlocked will remain, but progress towards new ones and logbook data will be lost.

To delete your cloud save:

1. Close Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.
2. Open Command Prompt. You can do this by typing "CMD" in the search box and selecting "Open".
3. In the Command Prompt window, copy and paste the following command:

   start shell:appsFolder\Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe!App -DeleteCloudSaves
   

4. Press Enter.

This command will initiate the deletion of your cloud saves for MSFS2024.

Keep in mind that disabling or deleting cloud saves might prevent your settings and progress from being synchronized across different devices.

I followed everything above step by step and it still isn't working. I try to save a new profile and it says it did it but I can't find it anywhere. 

Other than reverting back to SU2 I do not know what to do.

I’m sorry to hear that. This situation is incredibly ridiculous and frustrating. 

There may be something else to try, let me open msfs to check...

Control options screens changed with SU3. There used to be a way to make assigned commands default and apply to all, etc, on the right side or on the left side of the big option screens. Two different ways to do it. Now things have changed in SU3 so I'm not sure. The 2 arrows show the 2 ways.

I have no problem setting up the profile. The problem is once I save it, it disappears and can't be pulled up. Right now I am back on SU2 and setting up my profiles and exporting them locally. Then I am going to go back to the SU3 BETA and see if they are still there. It's not a solution but I am hoping it's a reasonable workaround.

this a bug with SU3 beta where controllers profiles cannot be saved or duplicated.

you can create new ones but will need to start from scratch to assign everything again.

I have no problem in SU3 saving profiles. I could not do so in SU2 (msfs would CTD if I tried to apply them to all aircraft). SU3 cured the issue. All is working well. Profiles save fine for me, i.e. the assignments I make do not go away the next time I boot up msfs. And Apply to all aircraft works without a CTD.

What I have done is reverted back to SU2, created all of the profiles I need for now, and then went back to the SU3 BETA, and the profiles I created under SU2 are there and can be selected. Not a fix but a reasonable workaround for me. It's a relief to know it's an SU3 bug rather than my system being locally screwed up.

I keep reading about these controller profiles in MS24 not being user friendly at all. One of the things that have held me back from leaving MS20. No I do have a lot in AAO so that helps but I do use some stuff inside MS. Is there a solid, good, tutorial on how to assign controls for aircraft on YT that anyone can point t ms to. Searching YT comes up with a bunch of not so good ones. Planning on going to 24 after SU3

That's weird. I don't know why I am having the problem. But of course, there are lots of little annoyances that one person has and another does not. I don't even know where to look for a solution to why it doesn't work for me. Oh well, my workaround at least works for now. Don't know what else to say.
