June 3, 20251 yr We know excessive bodyfat, especially visceral fat, is very bad for us. And we know that one of the most debilitating effects of aging is muscular atrophy, sarcopenia. So if these new drugs that are currently in trials are successful, it could improve the lives of many. Significant reduction in fat and significant increase in muscle mass.... even without training. No conspiracy theories please, people. 😁💪

"if these new drugs that are currently in trials are successful." As for the video being factual, I always fact check from other sources... even when it's Mike Israetel PhD exercise scientist who has been very reliable in the past. Currently, in the human trails, there were issues with two of the participants, so I read. If true, they will no doubt analyze the results to determine if it was related to the drugs of not.
June 4, 20251 yr When I see all the commercials on television these day I wonder how I got to be as old as I am without ever having access to a single one. It doesn't matter what ails you, there is a pill you can buy for it. I'm not knocking drugs people need. I take five pills a day plus a couple of eyedrops for glaucoma that have been prescribed for me by the doctors I see. My GP is also a pharmacologist and before I'd buy ANY unprescribed medication or pill I'd check it out with him first. Even the vitamin pills I buy. And every time I have an appointment I ask the doctor if I still need to be taking any of them. And sometimes they say no and take me off of it. I also think we are over-prescribed society too. When I go to the dining room for breakfast in the morning I see some of the old ladies at my table pull out a half dozen pills to take with their coffee and they tell me they take that many three times a day. Of course we are living longer now; perhaps due to the medications we take. A few afternoons ago we celebrated a lady who had just turned 102 years old. We have three ladies here over 100. The longest any man has lived here was 97. I hope to break that record without having half my diet consisting of medications. Noel The tires are worn. The shocks are shot. The steering is wobbly. But the engine still runs fine.
