Hot CPU around CYVR/KSEA area

Featured Replies

Hello 🙂

Always had a struggle in this areas. It is intensive but not the worst on the planet. but my CPU thinks it is

My CPU always hit 100c in this area  - any one else with experience?

Thanks Michael Moe

It’s hitting 100c? Are you sure? That’s not right and I’d avoid taking it to those temperatures.

What cpu is this and what kind of cooling do you use?

Its a I7-4770 K running@70-4K with the Ifly 737 Max8

No problems 25nm out of KSEA

That’s much too high for that vintage of i7.

It suggests your cpu/heat sink paste is failing.

That sort of a temperature is damaging to your cpu.

CYVR is my home "base". I've never had an issue flying into/out of YVR (or KSEA for that matter). Granted, I've upgraded to a more modern CPU.

The only experience I have with CPU heating (normally, my system runs at about 50-55 degrees C) is when I fly the Fenix with Time Acceleration (4X)...temps go up by about 15 degrees. That temp increase (my situation) is not isolated to the Pacific Northwest Region...that happens everywhere...but only with the Fenix in accelerated mode!

As others have mentioned...the sustained 100+ degrees will be a CPU "killer"...and likely shorten the life of other components as well. (Which leads to a CPU type cooling question as well...)

Are you limiting your frame rate in some way?   If not, you should, 100C is too hot as was said.

I have not noticed any cpu spikes around YVR or SEA.

Its only between CYVR and KSEA and properly 25nm out and not all cores at once. My idle PC temps is about 28-33c and have served me well over the years.

Normal MSFS2020 temps is around 70-75c and about 65c at winter times.

I will try a lower TLOD in the air😀

Thanks Michael Moe
