If pulling off the runway due to slamming the power lever forward isn't enough to consider flying it by the book, here's something that will make you at least fly it below the engine's red lines (assuming these are correctly set in PlaneMaker): https://github.com/JT8D-17/XLua-Utils-for-X-Plane Install this per the instructions, then activate the "engine damage" module and enable any parameter making sense for the engine type (and having a proper red line value set). Exceed said red line and get an increasing chance for component failure. If you're into fast pistons, consider Aerobask's Legacy instead. That one at least has a retractable gear and a cockpit that does not look like a mid-90s family sedan. Many thanks! I will give that mod a try. And I do like the Evolution exactly because it's a bit of a challenge to handle! I'm on a bit of a snipe/unicorn hunt: "Study Level" across the board, G1000, objectively fast, decent/good short field performance. I can easily find add-ons with 3 of those, but insisting on a G1000 is the fundamental roadblock. The only shortcoming in the SR I can see is the sub-200kt speed. And given everything else, I might just be able to see my way past that. I've actually reinstalled X-Plane 11 just so I can fly the Hot Start TBM, and that is very close to scratching the itch. Just wish it were in XP 12 already... Edited July 9, 2025Jul 9 by UrgentSiesta

I have a lot if his work (Pond Racer, anyone…? 😁). Problem with light jets is usually the short field performance (e.g., the otherwise lovely AB Phenom 300). What I “need” is the TBM in XP 12. I’m even considering the Thranda PC-12 at this point, since it has a (completely fictional) G1000 option. Points in its favor is very strong short/rough field performance, single engine, and I’ve even ridden in them a few times. For now, I think I’m going to give the freeware C90 G1000 mod some time. It’s a twin with traditional TP engine controls, so a lot more to think about & manage than the TBM, but overall it’s got the right mix of features, including “serious” engine limitations and such. The Lancair is still in the mix, too. I watched an Austin video recently and in it he talks about why he owns it rather than the SR22: because it’s not a very particularly well-behaved aircraft(!). Says the overpowered turboprop physics make it such that even HE can’t get a stable take off out of it IRL! but he likes that “feature” since it forces him to think about the FM in X-Plane. and since it’s a homebuilt Experimental, he can legally wrench on it with mods and such. July 12, 2025Jul 12 Commercial Member Some background into the person who coded it. Cooper (Coop as we call him in the XA virtual offices) is quite the talented programmer. After the SR22 was released, he was hired by RealSim Gear. He knows his stuff, and he's made a quality add on with the SR22. 25 minutes ago, UrgentSiesta said: What I “need” is the TBM in XP 12. I've stopped giving out ETA's, but I think it's safe to say it'll be out well before the end of the year. The model is done, and I'm onto unwrapping and mapping the mesh, and general prep for texturing. In fact, I've been at it for most of the day, and I'm about to turn in now at 430am. If you can't wait 2-4 months (I'm allowing for a healthy safety margin), then by all means, show Coop and Steaven some love and get the SR22, if you're only option is one add on between now and the end of the year. 👍

FYI, Part of what’s piqued my interest in this add-on was recently watching Graeme’s video series on it. As usual, he delivers masterful flight instruction well beyond the addon itself that’s (inevitably?) motivating to want to fly along with him. 👍 as far as your TBM status, that is great to hear! When it gets here, it’ll go a loooong way (again) to raising my satisfaction with time in XP. Appreciate your input - gives me a lot more faith towards the SR. I'll throw credit to someone who does good work and works hard. I met Coop for the first time at the expo, and he's genuinely a nice guy. 8 hours ago, UrgentSiesta said: FYI, Part of what’s piqued my interest in this add-on was recently watching Graeme’s video series on it. Very knowledgeable and an excellent teacher. We credit him for teaching people how to become competent in flying the CL650 in a very short amount of time. I tease him sometimes by accusing him of being Jim Browning in disguise. (He hasn't denied it.) 😉
