Aircraft selection outside of FSX?

Featured Replies

When selecting an aircraft, I get fed up waiting for over a minute for all my installed aircraft to appear, each time I wish to select a different aircraft. I was wondering whether there is any program out there which allows one to select the specific aircraft to fly with, from installed aircraft, before starting FSX ?Cheers,Stuart

Shouldn't take more than a few seconds to change planes. What other things take a long time to load? I'm not aware of a problem that causes that long load time, and maybe someone will come along that knows better. In the meantime you might consider backing up your cfg file, delete it, let the sim build you a new one. You can replace it with your back up if it doesn't help.Bob

i5, 16 GB ram, GTX 960, FS on SSD, Windows 10 64 bit, home built works anyway.

I don't know of any program to do that. You probably have quite a few add-on aircraft then? What you could do is move all of those aircraft out of the simobjects/aircraft folder, then, before you start FSX just move the aircraft you want to fly back into the folder. That should reduce the load time of the aircraft selection screen.Happy Trails,KailFlightSimmer since 1987C2D E6850 3.0GHz 1333FSBXFX Nforce 680i LT SLI2x XFX 8800GT 512MB SLI'd4GB Crucial Ballistix PC6400 800MHzCreative SB Audigy2 ZSUltra Xfinity 600W SLI PSUSeagate 320GB SATA-3GB/S HD for O/SWD 160GB SATA 3GB/S HD for FSXWindows XP SP3 / FSX SP2 / FS9 SP1

Great answers! Definitely, the more aircraft you have to choose from, the longer the sim will take to load up. Remember to keep all of the software registration numbers for your add-ons in a safe place that you can find easily! If you decide to manually or automatically alter your hangar roster and accidentally corrupt the aircraft, you can re-install with that key handy. Also be aware that some keys have a limited number of re-installs.Jeff ShylukAssistant Managing EditorSenior Staff ReviewerAVSIM

Additionally remember that many add on a/c have several different liveries. If you deselect show all models, the startup is faster. Then if you need to see different liveries, select all and the load is almost instantaneous and you can select from there.VicQ6600 G0 CPU 2.4 o/c 3.65Evga 680i A1 with P31 BIOS 2G XP2-8500 DDR2 1066FSB Mushkin 996535 RAM 5-5-4-12-2T320G 7200 HD partitioned for XP/Vista/Programs 2 - 74G Raptors in RAID0 500G 7200 HD for backup SATA DVD burner Evga 8800GTS 640 PCIx XG 174.74 702/1620/792Kandalf LCS case w/ built in liquid cooling 850W Thermaltake power supplyVisit the Virtual Pilot's Centerwww.flightadventures.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-supporter-sigbanner.jpg
