Airbus flight sim engineer blown away when switching to XP12

Featured Replies

Thanks to @Franz007 for recommending me this video.

This YT user tried XP12 coming from the competition and was shocked (for the better!)

From the start to the end of the video, he particularly praises the flight model, both on the ground and in the air. He compares going from the competition to X-Plane 12 as shocking as a "physical slap in the face", in terms not only of the more convincing flight model, but also with regard to weather and environmental depiction, as well as its professional user interface, the smoothness, the scenery drawing distance, the camera system, etc.

He's allegedly a test engineer for Airbus flight simulators, and he says that Airbus also uses X-Plane engine in some of their simulators. Video is in french, but you can use auto translation of the captions.

Now ya shocked me too 🤩😍👍

Let me clarify that I shared that video in an internal group, to not trigger some reactions I got accused of. And you decided to post it here 🙏🙂

Thanks for sharing—totally agree. I watched the video and the reviewer nails it. XP12’s flight model, weather, and overall feel are a huge step up. The smoothness and UI really make it feel like a professional tool. Also impressive to hear Airbus uses the X-Plane engine!

Great recommendation from @Franz007!

Yeah. I just hope Jan is on vacation (or in jetlag - or both) and won‘t see that video 😄✌️

Well, there we have it, I guess - the debate is finally settled and I am not sure who could be a higher authority than an Airbus Flight Simulator engineer and Airbus itself when it comes to the fidelity of a simulator.

I am glad that the discussion about which one is the better simulator is finally over and we can all concentrate on enjoying X-Plane now.

(Franz, you don´t need to reply on my behalf, you are now on my ignore list here and on Discord, too 🙃)

If he's already blown away by the default A330, he'll probably drop dead once he installs ToLiss'... 😅
