FDC Live or PFE?

Featured Replies

Opinions on either of these? I love the Super MD-80 and need some extra audio to round this package out. I am familiar with FDC in FS9, but not PFE. If you were to own only one of these, which would it be?Thanks in advance,Noel

HelloWhy only one, They both do totally different things.PFE is purely an ATC program that is a replacement for the default ATCFDC has no ATC element but lots of cockpit ambiance. Both Are Very good at what they do but the two programs areabout as different as it is possible to get.Great support by Dave March,Get both

I recently moved over from Radar Contact (ATC) to PFE (also ATC). Although I feel Radar Contact is somewhat more 'user friendly', I still prefer PFE. That's by no means a crit of RC, which is great.I've been having a query with an 'optional' part of PFE and, as posted above, the support is good.

>Hello>Why only one, They both do totally different things.>PFE is purely an ATC program that is a replacement for the>default ATCWell, I'm not sure I want different ATC, not that the default one is accurate or too desirable. I guess it's partly the cost of buying two, but even more, the time cost in learning yet another piece of software. I'm already wiling away alot of hours in the flight simming world! Thanks for your insights :()

Here is my AVSIM review of FDC:http://www.avsim.com/pages/0307/FDC/FDC.htmIn the "History" section (how many of you folks actually read that??), I describe how FDC Live Cockpit! is the successor to Dave March's S-Combo program, which was itself a stand-alone utility to be used with ProFlight2000 by AETI. Dave got the rights to ProFlight2000 and updated it into PFE.The whole thing is like heads and tails on a coin. The heads and the tails look totally different, but they are two sides to a unified product. Jeff ShylukAssistant Managing EditorSenior Staff ReviewerAVSIM

PFE is a must in my book. I implement it in virtually every flight. Dave continues to periodically add new provisions and features. However, I do agree with mad dog, why not both? Dave sets the benchmark in kind, and immediate help. Good luck:RTH
