August 8, 2025Aug 8 Hello Flight Simmers, My issue I am currently experiencing is quite annoying and not consistent with my current hardware (upgrading soon). My fps is in the range of 20 (sometimes above, but only external view), which can be frustrating as my hardware is capable of running MSFS 2020, whilst other people have lower hardware (CPU & GPU) range for example (3060, AMD Ryzen 5700 X3D). He is using MSFS 2024, however. On the other hand, my specifications are: i9-10900K @3.70GHZ, RTX 3070, 32GB RAM. In my view how can I improve my performance iteration? I've tried everything and anything: Restored NVIDIA Control Panel Defaults. (Tried tweaking settings, within NCP) Lowered TLOD & OLOD. Lowered Resolution. Changed to DLSS + DLAA from TAA. Tried enabling Frame Generation. Tried different presents from MSFS settings. (Starting from the beginning) Uninstalled & Reinstalled MSFS 2020 Twice. Tried lowering settings within MSFS settings. Tried capping FPS. (Didn't help) As you can see nothing has helped, I could explain more what I've tried but there's too many things that I have done and tried and nothing has helped me in any shape and form. Why are people getting better performance than me and again what is the best "thing" I can give a shot of to give me a least 10-30% better frame rate then I want I have now (currently). Regards. August 8, 2025Aug 8 A 5700X3D is much faster than your 10900K... Other than lowering terrain LOD and disabling traffic, I don't know. Make sure that glass cockpit refresh rate is set to medium and not high. 7800X3D | 2x32 GB DDR5-6000 CL32 | RTX 5080 | Alienware OLED 34" | 1 Gbps fiber

August 8, 2025Aug 8 Is your screen resolution the same as the one you are comparing with. i.e. are you running at 1k, 2k, or 4k? Ryzen 5800X3D, Nvidia RTX5080 - 32 Gig DDR4 RAM, 1TB & 2 TB NVME drives - Windows 11 64 bit MSFS 2024 Premium Deluxe Edition Resolution 2560 x 1440 (32 inch curved monitor)

I have an Ultra-Wide Monitor at 3840x1200 so in that case I don't know my resolution. Edit: It looks like I'm 4K. Edited August 8, 2025Aug 8 by oliver1i

No, 4K is 3840 x 2160--your resolution is a little over half that. I upgraded from a 10900KS to a 7800X3D around a year ago--it's smoother because of the monster-sized L3 cache, but the 10900K is still more than capable of running 2020 fairly well. I found that turning HT off worked well, as 10 processors is more than enough for the sim. I also used Process Lasso to keep utilities running outside the sim restricted to a few of the last cores. And I had the CPU overclocked to an all-core 5.1 GHz. I think the 3070 is your Achilles Heel here. Do some Google-Fu on using MSFS's frame rate display in developer mode, and determine if you are CPU or GPU limited--my bet is that you're GPU limited. Some of the settings address CPU-intensive processes, some are GPU-intensive. Knowing where you need to apply compromises is important. A few more thoughts: You said you tried capping frame rate--how? I've found that using MSI's RTSS utility works well with MSFS. Capping frame rates using nVidia Control Panel...not so much. Also, you might try the dynamic LOD utility. You never listed the video/GPU drivers you're using. WIN 10 or 11. What programs are starting up with your system running in background. Are you getting smooth performance when taxing and flying? If I'm getting smooth performance, I turn off the FPS counter and enjoy the sim. For me 2024 is running smooth and fine as wine.
