49" Curved Monitor?

Featured Replies

I would be interested in any comments about using a 49" curved monitor for MSFS 2024.  Is there distortion at the edges?

I am thinking about a curved monitor but perhaps a 32" model would work better?

I currently have three monitors with the picture stretched across for cockpit view.

Thanks for any comments.

Unfortunately, the 49" is a poor choice due to the stretching at the edges. The image becomes distorted. Multimonitors appear to be a better option.

And this is what a 49" curved monitor will do for the simulator

I have a Samsung G95C, 49in running 5120x1440 and while it looks amazing to sim in, it definitely takes a toll on the fps at full screen with an RTX 4080. FPS games run and looks incredible with not much hit to performance but honestly I'd have no problem going back to a 16:9 or maybe even 21:9. I like it, but I wasn't blown away by it like I was with my previous 34in with G-sync Ultimate.

I sold my Samsung Odyssey G9 49” … IPS … no issues with distortion.  BUT, the panel is terrible, edge glows, light bleed, blacks aren’t black etc.

Right now I run LG 45” OLED 3440 x 1440 and on another PC LG 45” OLED 5120 x 2160 … and on another PC I have Alienware 34” QD-OLED curved.

For flight simulation (I’m running a nVidia 5090 on my FS PC), the LG 45” OLED 3440 x 1440 works the best … image quality is excellent and performance is excellent.

The Alienware OLED is just OK, not great but not bad … took A LOT of adjustments to get the colors close to accurate.

Thanks for the replies. Exactly what I was looking for.

I have a 49" MSI. My computer is a CPU 7800x3d, 5070ti, 64 gigs, m.2 drives. Monitor/sims set at max res.

I am very pleased with the performance both in FPS and display quality. No complaints at all. I would buy the same set up again.
