Given up on 2024. Using 2020... VR bliss. 😊

Naw I've long since uninstalled 2020.  2024 is much better especially for all my GA flying.

VR is about the same in both sims.

You just really need a monster PC to really enjoy VR.

I doubt I'll use MSFS 2020 again.  In everything I've tried, at least for me MSFS 2024 is superior (if you ignore the irritating buggy stuff with its careers).  One other big win for me it is that full resolution DLAA is properly implemented, unlike in 2020.  IMO its image quality really enhances the VR immersion compared to TAA, though glass panel cockpits still suffer somewhat but I rarely fly those aircraft.

Hi all, I've been reading through this thread and would like to find out more information.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D

GPU: NVidia 5070 Ti

Mem: 64GB

I have MSFS2024 with HP Reverb G2

I saw that some are recommending TAA in VR and not DLSS? Are there other settings to change? I recently had to install the Oasis driver since WMR no longer works and it seems to be humming along OK, but would like to tweak it as much as possibe.

I have access to steamVR ap and I can set up some things there and also the MSFS2024 app itself. The OpenXR toolking that you can download from the MS store I'm not sure I should mess with (since all of the pipeline has changed).

Anyway, maybe a checklist for this kind of setup which I realize is a bit legacy but it sounds like some people are making a lot of progress :)

TAA is a good choice if don’t want smearing animations on glass panel instruments, but you'll probably need reduce the render scale to preserve fps. Otherwise DLSS is better for balancing overall image quality with good performance.

At least for me, a steady 45 fps is the sweet spot for smoothness with the G2.  I tune my graphics settings accordingly, and use a 45 fps limiter.  Opinions vary greatly for what's best, experiment to find what best suits your needs.

For my eyes, in VR, TAA will decrease fps enormously and only give a very slightly better glass screen digits readout.

But at my last drivers license renewal, the clerk said my eyesight barely passed. So maybe I just don't see the moving tape well enough to discern the difference.

I'm sure that if someone offered me $1000 for every time I guessed whether the setting was TAA or DLSS while looking at the cockpit from the default position. And giving me ten chances, then I would probably win $5000. 5 right, 5 wrong. Pure chance. Not enough difference for me to have a good clue which was which.

But I sure see the stutters go down and fps go up with DLSS.
