November 4, 200817 yr Hi all, this may sound like a dumb question, but I am trying to figure out how to assign landing gear up and down to two separate buttons in FSX. In FS9, I was able to do this without any problems (i'm guessing they had two separate assignments.)It appears there is only a single "landing gear retract/extend" assignment.. Hence, the flipper switch on my CH PRODUCTS yoke can only be assigned up or down for this option. Is there any way to have the flipper switch up be assigned to gear up and down be assigned for gear down?thanks much!KMac

Go to your FSX folder where your FSX.cfg resides.2. Open the Controls folder3. Open the Standard.XML file using notepad.4. Scroll down to almost the bottom until you find the heading and under it the label for CH FLIGHT SIM YOKE USB5. Replace the entry lines Index 6 and Index 7 with this:6GEAR_UP7GEAR_DOWN6. Save your changes.7. Load FS and you should now have to toggle up for gear up and toggle down for gear down.Note that there is a standard.xml in the root of FSX, but editing this file won't work - you need the other in the location described.Hope it helps and post back if you need more assistance.Regards, Kendall#1: E8500 @ 3.95 - HyperTX2 Gigabyte P35-DS3L 4GB Ballistix Tracers PC6400 EVGA 8800GT - XG's 174.74 Seagate 250GB 7200.11 CH Yoke/Pedals/Saitek Throttle Dual Monitor: Dell 2405/1905 #2: Dell 8400 3.2 H.T. 3GB PC4200 - X800XT Diamond Xtreme/Logitech X-530's Regards, Kendall 7800X3D/G.B. November 4, 200817 yr KendallI been using the one button on my CH and never bothered trying to fix it. I looked in my xml and my index 6 and 7 are flaps. I have an index 5 that says toggle gear.I do not have an index 4.So my index is 1-3 then 5-endWould your tip work if I copied your replacement as Index 4 and 5?Hope you understandThanksBill
November 4, 200817 yr Hi Bill, Yes it will work and you can assign the gear to whichever set of switches you desire. For example, as you stated, FSX by default assigns the flaps to switch 6 and 7, but I like my gear on that switch, so I just reassigned everything to the appropriate numbers in the xml file that corresponds to my yoke. Hope that makes sense.Think of the xml file as an editable configuration file which holds your preferences for your controllers and that you're setting those preferences manually, instead of using the menu within FSX. Some people have multiple files on hand for different AC and controllers. Also, once you get everything config'd the way you like it - back up that file in case you ever need to re-install fsx - saves much editing time. November 5, 200817 yr Author Hi AllJust to put another viewpoint on this. The same effect ie GEAR_UP & GEAR_DOWN can be achieved using FSUIPC4 - very easyIf you use CH Control Manager in "Mapped" mode you can also assign the same there.RegardsPeter Hayes
