  1. Thanks for the suggestions all. When Prepar3d opens, it has the F-22 as the default aircraft. I switch that to PMDG and then select the weather/airport. Should I open the with the F-22 and default airport first, and then change to PMDG etc...? I am not using any FSUIPC. One other thing that occurs is my rudder pedals do not automatically work when I start the sim. I an forced to unplug the USB cable and then re-plug it in to get the rudder working. Every once in a while the rudder will disconnect and I will need to plug/unplug again (but this has never resulted in loss of control).
  2. Hey Guys - Not sure if this is a 737 problem or a Prepar3d issue, but in my 20 years of simming, I've never had an issue like this. I am having an issue using Prepar3d v4.2 with the PMDG 737, and while in cruise flight, for no reason, the plane disconnects from autopilot and goes into an uncontrolled bank which is unrecoverable due to overspeed trying to correct. I've never seen this issue using FSX with the same plane, same CH Products yoke and pedals. I am not using any add-on's. Sometime's I can get a short flight in without the issue occurring, but it seems on flights >150nm the issue occurs. Running on Windows 10, Core i7-4770k, no overclock, 32g ram, GTX 1070. I never really fly with any other plane, so not sure if this is plane or Prepar3d specific. Also, the plane has done this even while not in auto pilot mode, and I'm not causing the plane to go into CWS mode by hitting the yoke by mistake or anything like that. Appreciate any help as this is quite frustrating. Thanks, Kevin McCarthy
  3. Thanks all, looks like EZdok is a must. Will give it a shot.
  4. Hi All - I am about to make the jump to P3D v4 and get the 747-400, but had a question regarding the virtual cockpits. I have been used to flying the NGX with the 2D cockpit. While I played around with TrackIR, I kept coming back to the 2D cockpit. I wanted to know what the "norm" was for folks flying in 3D cockpits. Is EZDok with TrackIR the benchmark? Are there other preferences? Appreciate the feedback. -Kevin McCarthy
  5. Like that attention getter?? Okay, let me explain the title. I am challenging PMDG to develop their own Flight Simulator. In my opinion the available simulators on the market today just haven't kept up with what most of us would have expected had FSX continued it's development cycle. Just imagine the time it would eventually save PMDG, not having to adapt and change code for several new platforms and adapt to their release schedules (i.e. P3D, X-Plane, FSX). Plus, imagine PMDG's quality on a fully developed flight sim! I hope they will consider this in the near future as they look to grow their business and expand in slightly new directions. Anyway, there's my sales pitch. Thanks, Kevin McCarthy
  6. Does anyone have a good custom TRACKIR 5 profile to use with the 737NGX ? Thanks, Kevin McCarthy

  8. Hi All - I was just wantching Nick's latest video where he changed the outside temperature in the FMC (CDU) to 57 degrees celsius. However, the N1 is subsequently changed to 88.3 percent. Here is where I am confused. Hotter air is less dense, therefore the hotter the air, the more thrust you will need. I figured putting in a temperature that hot of 57c would yield a much greater N1 level, such as 104 or 105 instead of 88. Can someone shed some light on this? Thanks,Kevin M
  9. I heard PMDG's next project is going to be an A320!!!P.S. I may also be a Bovine Scatologist. ;-)-Kevin McCarthy
  10. Boeing is creating a new 737:http://www.flightglobal.com/blogs/flightblogger/2011/02/boeing-ceo-jim-mcnerney-were-g.htmlPMDG, can we get a release date for this new plane? (sorry, I couldn't resist) :( -Kevin McCartney
  11. I quote the first line of Billy Ocean's Caribbean Queen song.. "She's simply Awesome!"Kevin M.KDFW
  12. A Delta pilot once told me that to fly a HUD approach, all you need to do is "put the ball in the basket". I assume this is referring to the donut hole, so I was expecting to see this as well.Kevin M.
  13. Thanks Dazz, that sheds some light.Kevin
  14. A few years ago, I could have sworn that PMDG said (Robert I believe) they were going to come out with an A320 series airplane along with a potential family of Airbuses. However, it's obvious PMDG has changed course on this.Am I imagining this? Thanks,Kevin
  15. Hey Guys -I am having a problem with my Rudder pedals in FSX where suddenly the rudder just goes hard left uncommanded. The only way I have found to solve this problem is by unplugging the USB cable and re-plugging it in, however, it happens roughly every 10-15 minutes, sometimes less. I am plugging the USB cable in one of my systems primary USB ports on the back. I haven't had any issues with the CH Products yoke.Any help would be appreciated.thx,Kev
  16. My vote is for the A320. Who doesn't want to be the Hero on the Hudson PMDG style!
  17. I apologize if this has been posted before. But I thought this was somewhat encouraging...I found this posted on fsinsider.com, link here: http://www.fsinsider.com/news/Pages/AMessageFromAces.aspx"By now, many of you have heard that Microsoft has closed Aces Studio, the publisher of Microsoft Flight Simulator. This was not a reflection of the quality of the products Aces has developed, the sales performance of the games, or the quality of the team at Aces. This difficult decision was made to align Microsoft
  18. Hi all, this may sound like a dumb question, but I am trying to figure out how to assign landing gear up and down to two separate buttons in FSX. In FS9, I was able to do this without any problems (i'm guessing they had two separate assignments.)It appears there is only a single "landing gear retract/extend" assignment.. Hence, the flipper switch on my CH PRODUCTS yoke can only be assigned up or down for this option. Is there any way to have the flipper switch up be assigned to gear up and down be assigned for gear down?thanks much!KMac
  19. I believe PMDG announced the Airbus project would be after the 737NG. Has this changed?
  20. I agree, the PMDG 737 is on the top of my list as well. Also, I am looking forward to Airliner XP's A320 series, but both seem a long ways off. FSX is still short a quality 737 and A320.Finally, looking forward to Level-D 757.
  21. Hey PMDG -This comment is still in your wiki "PMDG strongly discourages using FSX in the Windows Vista operating system".Is that still your recommendation?Just wondering if your team has performed any new testing in Vista, specifically Vista 64-bit?thanks,Kevin
  22. Thanks everyone for the quick responses. Lefteris, I look forward to your report and will monitor your blog.thanks!Kevin
  23. Just wondering if anyone could share their experiences with the 747X using Visa 64?thanks!Kevin
  24. Hi Gary, great stuff.. Any chance you could test on Vista 32 bit? I'm ready to build a new rig and am just nervous about using 64 bit because of all the driver incompatibilities and problems with other software.thanks again,Kev
  25. Check out this wiki by PMDG and using their 747-400x. They recommend using FSX only with XP. I was hoping to also build a new PC around DX10, but this recommendation does not help the cause.http://ops.precisionmanuals.com/wiki/747-4...%26_Performance64-bit still has many driver issues that may not make that a feasible option yet.-Kev
