It's standard practice to remove the torque limit (ie go into "850 mode") once in the air and takeoff flaps are retracted. You're leaving about 100HP on the table by not doing this. In my case I implement this using the flap lever on my Honeycomb Beta throttle quadrant. Since there's no gate to go over on the Bravo, I use a "long press" (holding the up position for > .5 second) to set the LVAR to 1, while a long press down writes a 0. While not exactly duplicating what's going on in the real plane, it's a fair approximation. I'm using SPAD.neXt, but any of the popular products could be used. Scott

November 12, 2025Nov 12 Sorry to revive this thread, but Im having an issue with 850 mode and when I searched it, this post came up, so I didn't want to make a whole new topic related to 850 mode. Anyways, I've been using the BlackSquare TBM 850 and 850 mode for months without a single issue. Today I went to fly again and for some reason, it just won't go into 850 mode. I can put the lever over the gate, but the torque never goes above 100. I've repaired the engine all that. I even restarted the flight but it still won't go over 100 on the torque. Any thoughts?
