Can't sign into the sim

Featured Replies

This morning, when I fired up MSFS 2024, it asked me to sign in into my Microsoft account. It defaulted to my email, but when I try and enter the password, the box won't accept any characters from my keyboard. I tried plugging the keyboard into a different USB receptacle, but it made no difference.

I tried to load FS20220 and had the same result.

Anyone know how to correct this?

Edit: I tried signing on to my Microsoft account online, and had the same problem, so obviously, it's not the sim, but a Microsoft issue. Oddly enough, I could sign in on my phone, but not my PC...

Press Windows key + Ctrl + O to open the On-Screen Keyboard.

or

Press Alt + Tab to switch to another window (like Desktop or Notepad).

Then Alt + Tab back to MSFS and try typing again.

Also - Have you tried rebooting and trying again?

All good ideas, although none of them worked. The keyboard that comes up on Windows + Ctrl + O does not type into the password box.

Tried re-booting too.

Sign in not to your MS account but Xbox! You should have XBox app installed on your PC

Yeah thats where I was going next - if your already logged into XBox then log out and try again.

So I downloaded the Xbox app and signed in. Then I started Steam and selected MSFS2024. Problem is, when the Xbox sign up screen comes up, it wants to know which Microsoft account is associated with the game. That's where the Microsoft sign screen comes up and I can't enter a password.

Edit: I can sign on with my iPad or phone but not my PC. Also, when I try to enter a code, it won't accept that either.

The problem is Windows seeing one of your sim hardware as an input device. Other than unplugging everything, choosing "sign in with Github" worked since it uses MS Auth anyway.

I had this problem and for some reason, weird as it sounds, I had to unplug some of my USB controllers. Something was interfering with the cursor in the text box. Once my Honeycomb Yoke was off it worked. Then plugged it all in after etc.

I second the Honeycomb Yoke issue. I had the OP's identical problem. Unplugging the yoke cured it.

Google AI response to: can't log into ms account honeycomb yoke

To log into your Microsoft account with a Honeycomb yoke, first,

disconnect the yoke and try to log in, then reconnect it if the login works. If the issue persists, ensure your system's date, time, and time zone are correct, restart your PC...

This solution worked for me, although I suspect the yoke solution might also have worked.
