Black Square Baron Pro (5OI8 to Tri-State KHTS)

Featured Replies

Here's a little preview screenshot post of the Black Square Baron Professional.  I recently picked up GotFriend's A-32 Vixxen which includes a quaint but beautiful little grass strip just north of Johnstown, Ohio (5OI8).  With a stiff west wind and plenty of power I was able to get the Baron off the ground without much effort.  We're heading almost straight south to Tri-State airport, which lies just in the northwestern corner of West Virginia.  Here the Ohio River separates Ohio from West Virginia while Big Sandy River separates Kentucky from West Virginia.  It's a lovely area this time of year too!

I initially file an IFR for 8000 ft, direct.  I filed for 190 ktas and the trip should be around 45 min.

5OI8 is home to Heavenbound Aviation, home to Aeroprakt aircraft USA, and LSA training as well.  We had finished up a demo flight in the A-32 and are heading home to HTS.

The scenery is meticulously crafted by GotFriends (and I think Emerald Scenery Design)

This is the normally aspirated B58 but it still has plenty of power

Up and away into the soup most likely

I prefer a cruise climb to keep the engines cool

Well, 8000 puts me right in the bases here... and with the OAT, it's a perfect recipe for ice.  I think we can get on top... let's see...

We climbed to 12k (no O2 onboard today), and are kissing the tops here... (and we picked up some ice!)  it does look more clear to the south so we'll remain at this altitude.  Plus we'll pick up a slightly more tail wind

A flick of the de-ice boots knocks it right off

This is a stunning paint by TimHH - and will be uploaded to the usual place along with Dynamic Registration DR support 🙂

With our quartering tailwind we pickup a ground speed over 200 knots which is nice!

We select the RNAV 30 via GREGZ and brief the approach on the GTN 750 Xi (provided by TDS using Jepp charts by Navigraph)

It's such a nice day that we elect for the visual to runway 30, and in classic ryanbatc fashion, I arrive high and fast (I feel the need for speed!)

But with idle power and fully forward props, we can easily make it down in time - what a beautiful river and fall colors

Using Garmin SafeTaxi as a navigational aid, we've arrived and ground control guides us to parking in the NW corner

...🙂...

Seriously, a wonderful set of images, Ryan, with this eagerly awaited BS Baron Pro... the livery shines here as outstanding too.

It looks like you made good use of the Ohio River this time...🙂...

Thanks for sharing...!

Do you use any shader programs, rex atmos or anything like that? There is something about your screenshots I really like!

It indeed looks like, you got your Vanilla 2024 nicely tuned, Ryan...🙂...

Have fun with this new airplane...!

Very nice, Ryan. The Baron looks great.
