January 13Jan 13 Author I guess I found the culprit: the frame limiter seems to be bugged at least partially. When I disable the FPS lock in the sim menue, the flickering goes away. However, the sim runs smoother with a frame limit... also not helping: if I limit the FPS to 36 prior Frame Generation, the sim only runs at 36FPS in the menues and flickering is huge. Why doesnt frame gen apply to the menue? What I also not get, and this is for sure new since SU4: during startup, the FPS are locked to 60. Where does this FPS lock come from? January 13Jan 13 two more flicker possibilities and solutions with FrameGen: my pink flicker problems were solved after I disabled "smooth motion" in the NVidia app: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/dlss-frame-gen-causing-pink-flicking-in-game/740543 and here another case: https://www.reddit.com/r/MicrosoftFlightSim/comments/1mjicuu/flickering_issue_when_using_nvidia_frame_gen/ AMD 7800X3D, Windows 11, Gigabyte X670 AORUS Elite AX Motherboard, 64GB DDR5 G.SKILL Trident Z5 NEO RGB (AMD Expo), RTX 4090, Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD 2 TB PCIe 4.0, Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD 1 TB PCIe 4.0, 4K resolution 50" TV @60Hz, VR: Pimax Crystal Light + HP Reverb G2 @ 90 Hz, Honeycomb Bravo Throttle Quadrant, be quiet 1000W PSU, Noctua NH-U12S chromax.black air cooler. 60-130 fps. no CPU overclocking. very nice.
January 14Jan 14 Author Both not really applicable to my case, but thanks. What I now really wonder is how and where this FPS limit in the startup video/rendering is coming from, does anyone know? It seems that the culprit there is the 60FPS limit which is absolutely off to my 144Hz monitor, no matter if VSync is enabled for full or half refresh rate. I guess I have to live with the flickering during startup and menue... Greetings, Chris AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, 2x32GB DDR5 6000MT/s RAM, MSI RTX 4090 Ventus 3X, Windows 11 Home, MSFS2024

DLSS can be both (somewhat confusing terminolgy): FrameGen AND SuperResolution (upscaling), the latter is not the cause of pinkish flicker, but the DLSS FrameGen part. https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/dlss-frame-gen-causing-pink-flicking-in-game/740543 https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/nvidia-dlss-frame-generation-vs-amd-fsr/746326/18 Edited January 14Jan 14 by turbomax AMD 7800X3D, Windows 11, Gigabyte X670 AORUS Elite AX Motherboard, 64GB DDR5 G.SKILL Trident Z5 NEO RGB (AMD Expo), RTX 4090, Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD 2 TB PCIe 4.0, Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD 1 TB PCIe 4.0, 4K resolution 50" TV @60Hz, VR: Pimax Crystal Light + HP Reverb G2 @ 90 Hz, Honeycomb Bravo Throttle Quadrant, be quiet 1000W PSU, Noctua NH-U12S chromax.black air cooler. 60-130 fps. no CPU overclocking. very nice.

January 16Jan 16 I mention this as I again was delighted with the change in total performance after doing a complete uninstall of Nvidia software save NVCP, DDU to complete the clean out in Safe Mode, then installed the latest NV GF driver w/o the NV app as I have zero need for it. I generally do this on average every 2-3 months as I find over time subtle deteriorations in smoothness can start to ensue. This time, I had a weird GPU max load and barely could maintain 30x2 60FPS-fg and even the loading video in 2024 was choppy as heck, which is completely atypical for me. This behavior started the day before, and the next day despite a reboot, was still there, so did the GPU driver R&R. Immediately perfect performance was restored and even flying into Gaya Systems KDEN in I-Fly max was absolute perfection w/ not a hint of stutter upon landing and taxi to gate w/ lots of traffic as well at dusk. Frame rate was 120FPS-fg for testing, and that's 60FPS-native. Short version: it pays to periodically R&R the GPU driver 👍 Noel System: 9900X3D Noctua NH-D15 G2, MSI Pro 650-P WiFi, G.SKILL 64GB (2 x 32GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000, WD NVMe 2Tb x 1, Sabrent NVMe 2Tb x 1, RTX 4090 FE, Corsair RM1000W PSU, Win11 Home, LG Ultra Curved Gsync Ultimate 3440x1440, Phanteks Enthoo Pro Case, TCA Boeing Edition Yoke & TQ, Cessna Trim Wheel, RTSS Framerate Limiter w/ Front Edge Sync. January 20Jan 20 Author @Noel many thanks for insisting. Finally found some time to do a DDU Reinstall and guess what, flickering is gone. Performance is however not affected, but that would have surprised me anyway, as I never had performance issues. Case closed 😊👍 Greetings, Chris AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, 2x32GB DDR5 6000MT/s RAM, MSI RTX 4090 Ventus 3X, Windows 11 Home, MSFS2024
