BATC AI Traffic Density

Featured Replies

If you have no moving traffic on an airport, it’s a sign of the scenery being broken and AI not finding a path to the runway. Other than that case traffic should move in realistic amounts if arrival and departure sliders are at 10 (and parked at at least 5)

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

Interesting thought.   I'll fire up KLGA again and see if the issue repeats.    I'm using very common aftermarket airports so I'd really be surprised if they are "broken".

Actually don’t be surprised, a lot of top tier scenery developers do not put much effort towards the Ai nodes that programs like BATC get their data from, Including Flightbeam.(See MSP’s Runway 4/22).

Luckily some scenery magicians have posted fixes on Flightsim.to so it’s always a good idea to see if there’s a additional file you can download that can fix these discrepancies…

Any idea what type of files these are?  GSX profiles or something else?   Using the search function over there is a bit clunky.

Sure try searching BATC, here is an example tho:

https://flightsim.to/file/101684/kmsp-flightbeam-minneapolis-enhancement-for-batc

It’s mainly one dude (ntnv) creating them right now, but he has started a discord to help others learn how to make their own edits, not an easy or simple task tho!

*it’s also why I wish BATC would offer a tool like Si and to a (future) extent FSHUD that allows the community to easily edit the nodes it reads and override any discrepancies and holes. Of course that’s easier said than done.

I'm very much having mixed results with this.   I've got parked traffic slider set to 7, arrival and departures set to 9.   At times, it's awesome, most of the time, not so much.  Yesterday at KSEA at 8AM local, 3/4 of the gates were full and I was number 5 for takeoff.   Pretty realistic except that during the 30 minutes I was on the ground loading, I think at most, 3 aircraft landed (including a Cessa 172, first time I've seen GA aircraft).    The day before, at KLGA, again 8AM local, maybe 1/4 of the gates were filled and in the 30 minutes I was on the ground, not a single aircraft departed or arrived.   I tried rebooting BATC to see if it would make a difference, no change.

Any idea if this issue can be improved at my end?

Fyi...I flew in and out of KGLA the other day and there was plenty traffic at gate, taxi, takeoff and land.  I am using purchased airport.  That said, it does at times seem empty at some airports.  Mostly, I would like to see the traffic flow faster upon start.  It can take awhile for traffic to become active.
