How is performance in XP 12 ?

Featured Replies

I remind you, the author of this post is interested in VR simulation. However, all the admiration and praise for performance, relate to 2D mode.
Personally, if I weren't "addicted" to VR, I would have been using XP12 exclusively for a long time (weather, clouds, atmosphere, seasons, ... etc. are beautiful in XP12 / Cons: blurry cockpits, lighting - as if I had glaucoma).

Of course, it's best to try it yourself with the XP12 Demo version. 😉

My VR experience is the complete opposite.  I find XP runs smoother than MSFS, and the cockpits and lighting are sharper.  So yes try the demo since experiences can vary significantly.

By MSFS do you mean MSFS2024 ?

Yes.  Sliders in both sims are set on the mid range, if not a bit lower on some settings.

I, too, am quite happy with the VR performance in XP12. Especially now that the 12.4 beta added support for separate VR and flat screen video settings.

I have now tried the demo. And with the default G1000 Cessna 172 I could notice some stutters around KPDX which I don't see in MSFS2024 or XP11.
Also in XP12 in VR the view through the propeller is heavy distorted and flickering unlike XP11 and MSFS2024
