FSC 737NG FMC thoughts?

Featured Replies

I quite honestly don't remember how long it took to get mine, but I was using aviaworx tablet/browser based FMC so had a solution until I got it.

I am 100% confident you will be impressed with the FMC and will enjoy using it as much as the rest of us who own Winctrl products.

Works for me. I have ordered the Airbus FCU a left EFIS and the Orion rudder pedals. So far no issues with them. As far a the software side I always make me think if there is a possibility of it having spyware.

If they spy on me they're going to be really BORED.

I’ll find out if it does … or my company will 😉

Who knows, maybe this will work out well …

@SayAgain, I bought this for my iPad. Dead cheap and support forum here on AvSim.

I appreciate it's not the same as a physical box but it's a huge improvement over using the mouse.

@Ray Proudfoot yeah, I have that software for my iPad.  It worked great, but there is something about buttons, knobs, and switches … the tactile feel that I just seem to prefer.  Maybe because I have low moisture fingers so they don’t work well on touch screens or big fingers … to be frank, I hate my iPhone and iPad touch … never works the first time, always find myself repeating the touch or slowing down to make sure I hit the exact spot for the exact right amount of time … gets annoying.

Hence, my love of real buttons, real knobs, real switches.

On a positive note, the WinCTRL (aka WinWing) components arrived today.  Have NOT installed the software yet but pulled them out of the box and plugged them in and I’m very impressed with the built quality.  So impressed, I ordered more components.  But the great quality makes me even more suspicious that keystroke logging is happening and being reported back to a server especially since their software that runs these components requires a login??

Soooo… I’m going to do some tracing and discovery work on the software side and check exactly what data is being transmitted back to a their server(s).  If they are key logging, I got big concerns over my Orbx/Contrail/iniBuild paypal purchases where they could log my user/password (fortunately I have MFA, but still).  I might be a little paranoid, but the cost to quality ratio seems “impossible” to me.

Strange. I don’t have small hands but find using it just fine. Each to their own.

Whilst you’re looking at what data is being read see if you can find the kill switch. 😉

My GoFlight units bought in 2003 are still going strong. Pity the company folded. 😟

Yeah and they were local for me in Hillsboro … but I have to admit, the quality of WinCTRL (WinWing) is 10X better than GoFlight …

WinCTRL

  • Some switches are large (life size) and 3 stages (locking center).
  • Magnetic switches will auto trigger (A/T) when certain events are triggered like they do in the real 737.
  • Crisp and clear backlighting no bleed.
  • Come with some mounting brackets or can order table mount brackets.
  • Very solid feel … especially the gear handle, knobs, buttons.
  • The FMC display is excellent and all the FMC buttons have backlight.

If their software turns up “safe”, I hope they come out with 737 throttle setup … the Airbus throttles will work in a 737 but not ideal.

I can smell a video coming when I’m done hooking them up.

By "their software" I assume that you mean SimAppPro?

I only use it to update my WinCtrl units, to run them I use MobiFlight.

Fast forward to 2049 and if they’re still working and the company still exists that will be proof.

Don’t forget Fulcrum. Chris is still in business. His TQ is superb. 👍

Yes, I will come back from the dead (someone store my ashes please) and return to this thread … they might have gone thru a few more name changes by then … WinWingWin … WhyWinWing 🙂

Fulcrum … 500 quid!  I could buy A LOT of WinCTRL components for that one Fulcrum … but Fulcrum do look like nice units, very similar to Virtual Fly units that cost more.

I was surprised at how fast WinCTRL made it to my home, they must have a US distributor as I didn’t have to pay a WayBill … maybe they were smuggled in with nVidia GPUs 😉

I’ll be waiting for you. 😉

Fulcrum is hand made with no pots and silky smooth six lever throttle axes. Adjustable to feel the same as real throttles in a Boeing. Also perfect for Concorde.

Looks like we have a convert here?! Hate to say it, but I did mention you would like the WinCTRL stuff. I am curious what you find with SimAppPro.
