MSFS 2024 - Permanently disable flight controls

Featured Replies

I've been working on getting my 2024 setup optimized and by and large things have gone well and I'm quite happy.  The biggest limiter will be VRAM with my ancient 8GB video card, as I assumed it would be, but I think I've got things dialed in pretty well.  (And for the 2 of you curious as to why I waited so long, it's because I HATE fiddling with sim configs and had things dialed in perfectly in 2020, but for a variety of reasons it was well past time to bite the bullet.)

There have been a number of interesting quirks I've had to overcome, but most have been solvable.  The one significant thing bugging me right now is that I can't seem to permanently disable my Alpha yoke, Bravo throttle quadrant and rudder pedals.  I use SPAD.neXt to control these and my other panels 100%, so for these devices I want MSFS to just leave them be, but disabling them only seems to last through the end of each session.  If I leave the sim and restart it, I have to go back in and disable these three again.  Every time.  It's started to *&%^# me off!

Does anyone know how to get this setting to stick!

TIA.

With SPAD, I just remove all the bindings for the device in MSFS. Then set that as default for all planes or whatever it is. That essentially disables the device.

Yep, I know I can do that but I was hoping I could take the simpler route of disabling the devices and permanently saving that.  Guess not.

Thanks, for the response.

😆🤣😂 I've fought with the bloody controls from day one of 2020 and to a greater extent 2024. I use FSUIPC, always have, always will.

I now have MSFS profiles set to 'None'. So every controller has a None. The trouble is when a new aircraft is introduced it 'helpfully' assigns controls. I then select None for all three elements and MSFS remembers it. A PITA but we have eventually come to an understanding. Having said that, the system falls down on the odd occasion and has to be taught a lesson.

In 2020 I had intentionally moved all non-keyboard/mouse controls to SPAD.neXT, including all axes, in preparation for the move to '24.  Axis control in SPAD is... interesting, but once I wrapped my mind around it, the flexibility of its curves really helped me to refine my yoke and rudder pedal setup.

It also really helped speed the transition as I've mostly been able to ignore '24's, er, non-inuitive structure, by turning it off.  Of course, I still use some keyboard and mouse mapping, so I don't get to completely ignore it.

Still in the learning curve on it, so thanks for your comments.
