February 27Feb 27 What a day.... it started with me feeling really fed up at constant stutters in MS2024.... the stutters were always only when on the ground at airports (origin or destination), FPS were high and the complexity of the scenery didn't seem to make a difference. Certainly, vanilla airports were no better and in some cases worse. I've been battling this for around 2 weeks and have tried pretty much every idea you can think of, from empty community folders, to turning off BATC traffic, to trying DLSS (nice apart from the ghosting), to countless reductions in MSFS settings. Nothing made any difference. As above, the issue was happening even with an empty community folder. So I started thinking about 3rd party content and realised I'd not checked my marketplace installations. So I opened up my library in MSFS2024 and started to scroll through everything. One thing caught my attention - "Zinnertek Enhanced Airport HD" (ground textures). It had been 'disabled' in MSFS2024 by default. Around 2 weeks ago I'd thought "Hmm I'll try that". <--- now, you know where this is going! The product in question was purchased years ago for MSFS2020. As above, MSFS2024's brain had decided to disable it by default. It wasn't maked "currently incompatible" but it was marked "unverified". I disabled it, launched the sim and BBBBAAAAAAAMMMM!! Absolutely no stutters when panning around (TrackIR) the airports. I flew a test flight in the Fenix A320 from HECA to HLLT. No stutters whatsoever when panning around the airport - neither from the drone nor the cockpit views. The product in question applies large, HD textures to the ground all over default airports, and airports that use default ground textures (mostly freeware and low cost payware). These were killing my system. Well actually they weren't but panning around them was causing persistent rendering stutters. I can't tell you how happy I am! Caveat None of my (childishly excited) comments above are intended to criticize the Zinnertek product. It was mostly an issue of compatibility. Being a 2020 product, it won't be using the KTX2 format for textures, neither will it be using any LODs. The problem was 100% caused by myself - enabling an incompatible product 'just to see', then forgetting about this action, when the problems started. February 27Feb 27 @JYW: There is a separate version (5.0.5) for ZINERTEK Enhanced Airport Graphics in MSFS 2024! If you purchased it for 2020, there is a free upgrade – native version for MSFS 2024 – have you seen it yet? regards ggerolamo kind regards, ggerolamo
February 27Feb 27 I'm lucky because with FS 2020, and even more with FS 2024, I simply never felt the need for addon scenery. Default airports are just good enough for my needs... But stutters and even some FPS drops to the low 20s have beem happening since this latest SU5 update. I know AI Traffic is one of the causes. Using BATC and FSLTL @ 1024 helps a lot, as well as lowering the traffic intensity to level "3" in BATC, because I know I do not have a powerful rig 😕 and with the memmory prices I believe I will not have a new one anytime soon...
