Ikarus C42B Released for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

We are excited to announce that the Ikarus C42B microlight aircraft is now available for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020.

The Ikarus C42 is one of the most widely used microlight training aircraft in Europe, especially in the UK and Germany. Thousands of pilots have learned to fly in this aircraft, and our goal was to bring this unique flying experience into the simulator.

This project was developed to fill the microlight category, which is still relatively underrepresented in MSFS.

Aircraft Features

✈️ Accurate recreation of the Ikarus C42B

✈️ Designed specifically for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 (PC)

✈️ Detailed cockpit with custom interior elements

✈️ Optimized flight model for microlight flying characteristics

✈️ Ideal for VFR flying, training, and short grass strips

✈️ VR compatible

Flight Video

If you’d like to see the aircraft in action, here is a short in-flight video demonstration:

Availability

The aircraft is now available on SimMarket: https://bit.ly/4shdmZG

Why the C42?

Many MSFS pilots enjoy flying small GA aircraft and bush planes, but the microlight category has been missing from the simulator.

The C42 offers a very different experience compared to larger GA aircraft:

• lightweight handling

• excellent visibility

• low-speed scenic flying

• perfect for exploring small airfields

We hope you enjoy flying the Ikarus C42 in MSFS 2020 as much as we enjoyed building it.

Feedback from the community is always welcome.

Happy flying! ✈️

Not even compatible with MSFS 2024 ?

EDIT:  28 EUROS??  Does it come with a real C42?

Sorry but for the aircraft class, features and quality on offer, from a new developer, that is a staggeringly high price.    I take it that for that price point, it comes with custom tablet, placeable ground objects & covers, engine realism and monitoring, custom failures, etc?    Because from the (tiny) pictures on Simmarket, it looks a lot like a very shiny, default-level ultralight.

Sorry for the negative slant but you asked for feedback and that's what I've given as my first impression;

> Why have you developed an aircraft solely for MSFS2020, that states on the product page is not even compatible with MSFS 2024?  Why on Earth would you limit your market, when it's possible to make a "2020 plane" that is compatible with MSFS 2024 also, using the 2020 SDK ?

> Why or how on Earth is the price 28 EUR for what seems to be on offer?

So that others can avoid your bit.ly link, here is the video:-

28 Euro model?

Look at the modelling of the inside of the doors, from the cockpit. (0:23 in the video).

Wow... just wow.

I wouldn't install it even if I were paid. Good grief, it takes a real nerve to even offer something like that.

It looks like a half-decent first attempt at freeware.  I'm not sure (from looking at the inside of the model) whether the doors even open.   The texturing is nowhere near even early MSFS 2020 standards.

I genuinely don't take pleasure in dishing out such hard criticism, but you'd have to be deluded to think people are going to pay 28 Euros for that.

It does look like an Abacus, c.2003 product! 😄

This addon costs 6 EUROS more than the FlightFX HJET........ just let that sink in.

Wow, 28 euros. I appreciate the effort, but this addon is not worth that amount of money. The exterior model is not accurate (the nose is to big for example) and the interior looks much worse than freeware planes available. No thanks.

Cheers, Bert
