A question about the Carenado C182

Featured Replies

I'm running the Carenado C182 with the PMS50 Garmin 530 gps unit. But for whatever reason, while the Nav #1 is slaved to the unit, the Nav #2 isn't. And Nav #1 only gives lateral guidance, no glidepath. So while the autopilot can fly a full approach, it cannot be manually done, since there's no vertical guidance.

The Garmin indicates GPS on the CDI and LPV as a mode, but the Nav #1 glideslope indicator remains inoperative.

The 182Q or the 182RG?  The only one 182 that is MSFS 2024 capable is the 182Q.  So I'm going to assume this is the 182RG for 2020 since there is no mention of a GNS 430 and 530?  The RG works in 24 but it's messed up.  You can basically just hand fly it.  Unfortuanetly, now we have to say which sim and which aircraft specifically.  I really think we need to split the Forums into 2020/2024.  Especially as 2020 users are coming over to 2024 after the big sim update.

Sorry I didn't specify.

This is the Carenado C182Q, not the RG. It functions quite well in just about every respect with the PMS Garmin 530, which is to say you can hand fly an ILS based on the CDI indications, however, one only gets lateral indications when tracking an RNAV source.

What is the 'PMS Garmin 530'?
