And while you all are stewing on the above question, has anyone run into a situation where the speed setting was locked in place and could not be changed?  Had this happen to me last night, but it could have been some erroneous keystroke that activated some mode, since I was setting up ChasePlane views and shortcuts etc. at the same time.

Had that one too.

Couldn't reduce speed on approach when on AT.

Also, 3 unsuccessful attempts at an Autoland, but noted in the Inibuilds forum they are preping a fix for "A/P Flight Logic & ILS guidance",  so hope that corrects things once update gets through the MS Mkt system

  • God speed to my VATSIM controller friends this evening who will deal with the influx of L1011 pilots who haven't used anything other than a Garmin product.

The import STAR/SID option isn't realistic as those are RNP Arrivals which are RNAV1 whereas the INS is an RNAV5 meaning it's too inaccurate to fly the charted path via guidance, we added this functio

This month’s PC pilot magazine has just arrived in my letterbox, there a good review of the L-1011 with a score of 94%

At a glance : an atmospheric recreation of one of aviation’s most iconic widebodies , combining superb audio-visual presentation with impressive accessibility for all simmers.

I’m getting tempted to pick this up just for doing heavy jet circuits and ILS work.

The review mentions they felt it was quite taxing on their system though.

What’s the general consensus on this classic now it’s been out a couple of months and the dust has settled?

I've flown it around the world twice already - and never had a problem that wasn't my fault.

Performance has been fine on my machine (9800X3D/RTX5080/32GB).

I use the automated flight engineer - and he's done his job perfectly for me.

Only issue - I noticed on Simbrief import it loads all cargo into the aft cargo bay which upsets the CG - but I just change it manually.

It's at least as good as the old Just Flight Professional version, and looks a whole lot better too.

Thanks for that write up.

There’s so many things being launched at the moment it’s hard to keep up.
