I definitely don't get paid by YouTube  🤣

Not yet. You still are 420 subscribers short before you can start monetizing. 😉

I sometimes link to one of my channels and I have more than 500 subs, but I don't monetize ... but that doesn't stop YouTube from running ads on my content of which I see zero income but have the "privilege" to be on YouTube's platform (lucky me).  I'm not trying to sell anything to anyone.  So assume guilty and then prove innocence - seems a bit fascist to me and certainly not inline with US legal system (or pretense of a legal system)?  The content was at least Flight Simulator related.

But I do understand the need to prevent websites from being spammed with people linking to their for profit (they hope) YouTube channel(s).  But to be fair, YouTube content providers make next to nothing from YouTube, they make money from direct contracts with vendors or selling their own merchandise or paid member only videos.  In other words, there ain't much to be gained for any content provider that wants to spam websites with links to their channel ... dead end road (even more so if the content is exclusively Flight Simulation).

But, those paying the bills for this website decide what they do and don't want within the jurisdiction of country of origin.  Signing on as a commercial member for AVSIM does have a cost associated with it and I doubt this user's instance/channel will show any sort of return that could cover that cost ... maybe around 200K subs?  But YouTube keeps changing it's policy so being at the their mercy isn't a great financial venture (or adventure).

On a side note, I'm slowly moving all my stuff over to Vimeo (pay for service and I can avoid all the YouTube drama).

Mods, respectfully, I don’t see how this type of thread adds much value other than advertising the user’s YouTube channel.

Hard disagree.

OP is consistently doing real work to operate good addons to a high level of realism, and he shares his findings here.

Which has generated good discussions and provided informative pre-purchase benefit for everyone who reads here.

Feel free to skip the posts you don’t like. 👍

You seem to forget that people actually make money with their YouTube channels and AVSIM has a policy against advertisement of your enterpise unless you identify yourself as commercial member and get the green light from the admins.

Linking to a YouTube video of your own channel is most definately a form of advertisement that can increase viewership and as a result increase payout.

“We” need to lighten up. 🙂👍

Thankyou for understanding me. I like sharing tips and tricks that helped me fly aircrafts 🙂 I also like discussing aviation related stuff with other enthusiasts.

It’s really not that serious. I don’t know OP, nor have I made a judgment about the quality of their content since I haven’t watched it. Was genuinely under the impression that promoting one’s monetized platforms on here was specifically not allowed, and OP does it regularly. I’m not a mod - so I flagged it for them. If it is allowed, I’m sure many other content creators would like to advertise their content here, too.

Nah - gotta push back on overweening nanny posts wherever they appear, lest the mods mistakenly come to believe them.

Have a great day! 🤙
