I've reinstalled MSFS a few times and my settings for controllers were almost 100% preserved.

Game options are partially inherited too, like graphics settings and the like, but I prefer to redo that part.

OFC addons have to be reinstalled...

Rename your community folder with all your addons. Goto your Xbox app and uninstall 2024. reboot computer then reinstall 2024 using Xbox app. Start up 2024 and see if you get any loading problems. If not close 2024, then go back and delete the empty community folder` that was rebuilt and rename your original folder back to community. You may have to re point FS to the location of your community folder again. Then enjoy.

Before you do anything so drastic as uninstalling msfs2024, try this instead.

store version

Open Xbox

right click msfs2024, choose manage, Do not click uninstall, instead click on Files, then click Verify and Repair.

When I did this it took about 10 or 15 minutes and then all was well.

Steam version:

  1. Open your Steam Library.

  2. Right-click Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and select Properties.

  3. Go to Installed Files and click Verify integrity of game games.

This may take longer with Steam, I'm not sure.

By the way, trying this with msfs2020 will take much longer than with msfs2024.

Hello, it started but the in sim settings are as it was before I upgraded the cpu to Ryzen 9 9950 x3D

How shall I know that the sim is using the new cpu and the new Motherboard?

I would try this if it was me.

Find where your userconfig.opt file is

On my system it is at

C:\Users\MY NAME\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache

and move the userconfig.opt to your desktop or somewhere else where it is safe to put back if you need to.

Then I would go to:

https://chatgpt.com

And tell the AI that you have a certain cpu, gpu, your monitor resolution and screen size, how much system RAM you have.

And ask if it will build a new userconfig.opt file for that system. It will probably ask for you to paste your old file to it. (It's a text file and can be opened with Windows notepad).

Then keeping your old file safe use the new userconfig.opt file by putting it where the old one was. And boot up msfs. The msfs settings should now be a lot different and work better, giving you better performance.

When I did that on my system and then chatgpt wrote out a new usercofig.opt file, I asked it to make a download link so I could save the file. Chatgpt made a zipfile and gave me the download link. I unzipped it, and then that's what I pasted where the old file was. It made msfs run without the issues I used to have, faster, smoother.

Sorry to hear that you need a break. I don't because I keep MSFS running perfect by going and getting help whenever I need it.

That's great for you. I've been running MSFS perfectly for years now without Chat. Whatever floats your boat. Maybe you can ask it to recommend toilet paper to wipe your bottom. lol
