Missing EGLC on PMDG navigation display

Featured Replies

I have just noticed that the blue circle with ICAO code for EGLC is missing on the navigation display of my PMDG 737. I have ORBx EGLC London City v2 installed. I can add EGLC in the FMS (so it is in the PMDG navdata), but I do not see it on the ND screen. Is anyone else experiencing this, or is it a glitch on my PC?

Probably due to the short runway. There is usually a setting in either EFB or all those FMC menues that only Airports with rwy above a specific length are displayed which shall prevent you to divert to a local glider field for an emergency landing

EGLC isn’t suitable for 737s. Maybe that’s a factor. The Embraer 195 is the largest allowed with a 5.5° glideslope.

Yes. That is the factor. Took the iFly out of EGLC and Simbrief already gave me the warning the rwy length would not be enough. Did it anyway. So much for being smart :-). But hey, it’s a simulator.

I would have thought the glideslope was more of an issue. But given it’s right in the middle of London with skyscrapers close by a short takeoff aircraft with a good climb rate is essential.

Remember when I could land a 747 at Meigs! 🤣

Further investigation has revealed that the blue EGLC on the ND screen is only visible with the PMDG 737-600 on my PC. I also have the 800 and 900, but it is not visible on the ND in either of those planes. I do not know if it is visible with the 700, as I do not have that version.

The 600 is the only version of the 737 that I fly in and out of EGLC, so this is probably why I had not noticed it before. I was flying the 737-800 BDSF close to EGLC this afternoon, and I happened to notice that the blue EGLC code was missing on the ND.

To be more specific, this parameter can be set on the PMDG FMC at the following location:

SETUP > AIRCRAFT > DISPLAYS > ND (6/9) > MIN RUNWAY LENGTH

For the case of the default Delta livery, this value is 5000FT. Because the only runway at EGLC is around 4950 feet, this airport would not be displayed by default on this particular aircraft. If you want the ND to display smaller airports, just set MIN RUNWAY LENGTH to the desired minimum value.

Hope that helps. Have a great weekend everyone. Happy Father's Day!
