Tuesday at 08:13 AM3 days Hey, pilots!Sorry, if any similar topic was raised before. Facing a problem, when I am on a FL I see that the terrain gradually loading up around the plane by squares. Outside the squares the terrain is blurry.... Yesterday was flying in Arches park, Utah. In the distance the terrain is blurred and when I fly closer the square tiles appear with a good resolution texture and spread around the plane. The internet speed I have is 60-80Mbps . Terrain LOD 300, OLOD 200. Rolling cache 50GB (is it possible to dissable the rolling cache? There is no option to turn it off...)Maybe you have any ideas how to fix the issue? Tuesday at 09:01 AM3 days Best suggestion by far: use AutoFPS - https://github.com/ResetXPDR/MSFS_AutoFPSIt will take control of all your LOD. It's an absolute gem! This man deserves an Oscar!!
Tuesday at 09:30 AM3 days A terrain LOD of 300 is pretty high and you shouldn't be seeing this.It could be related to server problems if it's not what you usually see.The terrain res has been dumbed down in recent years, but you shouldn't see it loading up. It does sometimes quickly sharpen when you change views. MSFS 2024 and 2024 - in-person and remote optimisation, technical support and flight trainingThe Flight Sim Doctor

DO NOT change anything in sim relating to your rolling cache setting. once you delete or rename it, start the sim and you will see you rolling cache is now '0'. if you want it back, just make the folder in explorer again, EXACTLY as it is named in the sim settings. i would recommend you just rename the \Rolling_Cache folder in windows explorer by adding '---' to the end of it. whenever you want to enable it again all you have to do is delete the '---' from the end of the name and you are good to go again, sim will rebuild the rolling cache. It does sometimes quickly sharpen when you change views. This is not that! With the new US "National Parks" update, the scenery around the Arches - Canyonlands area is now a HUGE chunk of PG and that's the crux of the issue. I've flown this area several times now, and at lower altitudes this much PG simply loads far more slowly than normal scenery tiles even with solid servers, high speed broadband, high LOD and good framerates. It also does not color match to the underlying scenery tiles, which makes the slow loading even more obvious.I absolutely hate this. Yes, the detail of the new PG areas is wonderful, but the slow loading and color issues absolutely ruin immersion. For the first time ever, I'm actually considering turning off PG when flying in the area. I'd rather have the less-sharp but consistent scenery with consistent coloring than the super detailed scenery which loads in slowly and has such large quality/color mis-matches.I'm honestly surprised I've not heard more complaints about this.Edit: And no, AutoFPS (which I use) will not help. Framerates are not dropping when this happens. In a GA plane, I can easily run LOD 400 with locked frames never varying, so AutoFPS sees things as being just fine.Scott Edited Tuesday at 12:03 PM3 days by tttocs

Then I flew to Aspen and along the way I observed terrain being loaded. Then I flew to Bryce Canyon and the sory repeated. I have used the 2024 for quite a while with no problems at all... After SU5 started getting issues. Some are resolved, but some other came out :) Intel i9-13900K, GIGABYTE GAMING Z790, GeForce RTX4090, 32GB

No. I don't know ANYBODY who thinks that or is unaware of the various PG issues. Most understand there are tradeoffs and either like more than dislike or vice versa. Just because someone falls on the other side of the fence from you doesn't mean they're word not allowed of the tradeoffs. These massive areas of PG are a relatively new thing. The area in Utah being discussed basically stretches for hundreds of miles, and its causing new issues, not typically seen in the more modest areas previously in place. Yes, I know places like the Grand Canyon area have been around since the beginning in 2024, but this massive expansion (particularly obvious now in the Western US) are beyond even that.ScottEdit - wow. This is the most bizarre case of dis-allowed words I've yet seen on Avsim. The word I used was not in any way offensive. Basically meaning "unaware". Edited Tuesday at 01:32 PM3 days by tttocs
