The built-in control settings for MSFS 2024 are driving me nuts. It just seems too difficult to manage profiles for all the different planes. There are a number of external apps that can handle the controller management, including SPAD.NeXt, Axis and Ohs, Hangar Control, and FSUIPC7.

I'm looking for one that has a good range of pre-built profiles (either built in, or freely downloadable) for both the built-in planes in MSFS2024 Premium Deluxe as well as add-ons from vendors like PMDG, Fenix, Aerosoft, Just Flight, iniBuilds etc. because I'd rather not reinvent wheels.

OTOH, I'm not opposed to digging into something if that's necessary. I did a significant amount of tweaking using FSUIPC in P3d for example. Do you have any recommendations, particularly for products that will handle the Bravo throttle quadrant well, including its autopilot controls and LED annunciators?

Any input would be appreciated!

I suspect most people will suggest the product that they use is the best. So I'll start by doing exactly that 😄

Axis and Ohs is an almost bottomless pit of capability for what you're looking for. I've been using it since it's first version (for FSX) and there is so much versatility and enjoyment I've had out of the sims, because of this program.

It can be a little hard to get into. With so much capability, it's almost beyond being capable of having a simple or intuitive UI. But there are 100s of videos on YT, dedicated to pretty much every area of it's capabilities. Add to that the fact that the (sole) developer is 100% approachable and will help anyone who fires a question at him.

I only use the sim's controls for pure sim aspects, that are common between all planes, like basic view commands, etc. Everything else is controlled by Axis & Ohs, with dedicated profiles (most that use custom AAO scripts that provide functions above and beyond the default MSFS commands. You can have AAO load and connect automatically with MSFS, and it will load custom profiles automatically, for the plane you've selected in MSFS. Seamless and transparent.

For "not reinventing the wheel", well there are 100s of custom AAO profiles on flightsim.to all of the popular and not so popular addons (Fenix, PMDG, the lot).

For info, I tried SPAD for a year or so and it's pretty good but IMHO not as capable as AAO. There are also about 20 times more AAO custom profiles available on FS.TO, than there are SPAD profiles.

I have both AAO's and SpadNext and I like the latter the best.
IMHO it has a much better UI, the one of AOO is a bit cumbersome, at least for me.
However I think SpadNext is (way) more expensive and has a yearly subscription if I'm correct.

I also have both and ended up using Spad.next exclusively. The UI is definitely a different world. It's easy enough to find out, as both offer trials. Spad offers 14 days fully functional and Axis trial version shuts down after 20 minutes. Just find out yourself what's best for you. Some links:

One thing to be aware of is Spad.Next may not support assigning a keyboard key to directly activate a sim event (K-event, etc) or a script. I say may because I have not been a Spad.Next user for this reason (I like to use keys to activate certain scripts I've written), but things might have changed since the last time I checked. You can certainly assign buttons or switches to do that, so with the possible key assignment limitation aside, Spad.Next seems to be a very capable program based on how I've seen it used by others.
