Here is the string to start RC3 in high priority

Featured Replies

Hi all, I did a search on google and found the string to start a program in high priority. For Radar Contact it is:C:WINDOWSsystem32cmd.exe /C start /HIGH D:rcv30rcv3.exePlease note that D: has to be changed according to the drive where you installed RC3It starts RC3 in High priority mode without the need to manually set it in the task manager.Just right-click on your RC3 shortcut, open properties and enter the string.J.J.JJ StruyfBraine-L'AlleudBelgiumhttp://jdtllc.com/images/RCsupporter.jpg

The string runs on Windows 2000 and Windows XP. Please note that in Windows 2000 you have to replace WINDOWS by WINNT.1:20 pm, time to go to bed now.JJ StruyfBraine-L'AlleudBelgiumhttp://jdtllc.com/images/RCsupporter.jpg

Also, if the path to RC3 has a space in it, I found it will work if you concatenate the path (like win9x does in a shell window). eg:c:winntsystem32cmd.exe /C start /HIGH d:progra~1RCV30rc3.exeit doent like having quotes in the commandline.

no luck here, none of the following combinations work for me: (I assume I place this in the TARGET box locationc:winntsystem32cmd.exe /C start /HIGH "C:Program Filesaaa_UTILITIESrcv30rcv3.exe""c:winntsystem32cmd.exe /C start /HIGH C:Program Filesaaa_UTILITIESrcv30rcv3.exe"c:winntsystem32cmd.exe /C start /HIGH C:Program Filesaaa_UTILITIESrcv30rcv3.exe"c:winntsystem32cmd.exe /C start /HIGH" C:Program Filesaaa_UTILITIESrcv30rcv3.exerunning XP SP1, can somebody provide me a cut and paste and tell me what box to place it in (this is driving me nuts)

Mike,You can't have a space in the command, so you'll need to use the DOS name instead of Program Files. i.e.:c:winntsystem32cmd.exe /C start /HIGH C:Progra~1aaa_UTILITIESrcv30rcv3.exeLook at the properties of Program Files, it'll show the DOS name.

Hi Scott, I tried the above settings and indeed it does cut down on the dead time in between burst of words or syllables, ie, there is very little, although perceptible, pauses. The main issue I have is the still staccato form of the controller's/pilot's responses. Instead of flowing smoothly they sound very choppy. Somewhat like a string player going up or down the scale by the individual bowing of each note compared to a constant bowing movement from beginning to end of the scale. The staccato form, in music at least, is to convey a sense of nervousness or restlessness to the listener and this fix does indeed cause the same response at least for me. Evaluation then and now: The voices are more continuous now than originally but still has a way to go to smooth out the excanges between the various communicating individuals.Regards

Blais,We're lucky to have had anyone record at all.JD begged - BEGGED - people to record, all would get a freebie RC. The controllers and pilots in RC are all who volunteered, and only three of them aren't on the team, five if you count two ladies who are friends/related to members (Jeff, Juliana, Mike, Ruthanne, Sara).I did the best I could with what I had. I had people redo files. I processed and reprocessed. I begged and pleaded people to send me test files so I could have them fix their mics. If people wouldn't, or couldn't, set their mic and volume, and couldn't understand the need to speak smoothly and consistently and with the same tone and inflection, there is nothing I can do about it.If you want to pay people to do it right, I'll be more than happy to have them. I don't have MS's budget.

Say Scott. I think it sounds great. I can live with the somewhat uneasy pause every now and then. All in all RCv3 works well. I have fixed my problems just by getting the right files for the sound card I'm using. Many, many thanks,

Ken,I'm glad to read it. I hope you have many fun and Bill-free flights! ;-)

Hello Scott, Although I do have a certain amount of feeling and compassion for you in dealing with this problem what you do say appears to be more of an excuse rather than a justification. My personal feeling is that a bit of software, or any other product for that matter, should not be placed on the commercial market if the product doesn't meet certain minimal requirements. As RCATC is a software package primarily concerned with voice communications with the simulation pilot I feel the highest priority should have been placed on the quality, not quantity, of this specific communication.Honest Regards

.

Scott, I did not mean, in any way, that I won't use RC3. I simply meant that I am somewhat disappointed in RC3's handling of the various voices. There is still much to learn about how RC3's ATC works.Cheers

Thank you Scott, I assumed that you meant a space in any directory name that I make, not what the XP standard install makes. That is why when I reinstalled RC I forced the underscore. Again, assumed that if Win made, Win can read it - bad assumption :-)Also, read your post about JD stating that RCV3 would be free to those who provided voice sets? I do remember somthing about users supplying them prior to release but I dont recall any mention of free software. Bummer, I am sorry I did not understand, I would have done it probably. However, now with the utilities, I will be making both sets within the next 30 days. But I think JD and crew deserve the money anyway. Thanks for the start shortcut info and I will post soon indicating voice quality (actually sounds pretty close to your posting now)

Mike,JD is a very generous person. He'd give you the shirt off his back if you were cold. So giving away free RC was minor. Now you know for the future.
