January 31, 200521 yr Hi to all,I intend to buy ver.4 of RC once it is out. This whole AI-thing in ver.4 really confessed me ;-) as it was the reason not to buy any of those programs like RC3. I just wanted to ask, wether the taxiing intructions will now also include the names of the taxiways, maybe from the AFCAD files? Just a small issue anyway... .
January 31, 200521 yr Commercial Member no, it will not. you will be told to taxi to runway such and such, monitor tower frequency on this and that.you may be told to follow the delta 737 to runway such and suchbut there will not be any progressive taxi instructionsjd JD Read my blog
February 12, 200521 yr Hey JD,"you will hear ai planes being told to hold short, or exit the next high speed, etc. once you've landed, the ground ai for your runway are thawed out, and return to their activities."When the AI and more to the point, our own craft, horses down the runway looking for an exit...will the ATC mention "vacate right" or "vacate left at end" etc. Just a thought as this would be real handy especially at night! Ta much!PS just got word back from Doug...he has put 3 new callsigns in for me! Top man!Again. Ta much!
February 12, 200521 yr Commercial Member but i don't know whether to turn you left or right. i don't know where the taxi ways :-(jd JD Read my blog
February 13, 200521 yr Ok JD, guess I will continue to use AS2004.5 and just zoom into the airfield graphic and figure it out manually ;-) ...not difficult I know but sometimes I forget to check it out doh!?! :+ Looking forward to the release...will be my first time purchasing RC!Ta much!
February 16, 200521 yr Hihow do you get to the runway then? I guess there is no pink line like the default fs9 progressiv taxi lines. And you mention there will be no taxiway names?? So you go anywhere you want to get to the runway?
February 17, 200521 yr You can get US airport taxi diagrams here:http://www.naco.faa.gov/ap_diagrams.aspwhich enumerate the taxi lanes.http://www.naco.faa.gov/index.asp?xml=naco/online/d_tpp leads you to a search (leave the "K" off th id) for approach plates. DPs, STARS, etc.
February 17, 200521 yr Another option is to download the freeware AFCAD2.21. You can use it to open up an airport, set the options to show the label types you want, and print out the diagram. Version 1.x does the same for FS2K2.
February 19, 200521 yr I just went into AFCAD and I can't find this option. Could you give me a point in the right direction. Regards Keith B. Life is a short dash between two dates on a Tombstone
February 19, 200521 yr Under the view menu option dropdown click on the labels you wish to show. The menu Lists dropdown can give some relevant info as well.
February 20, 200521 yr Hi Joe,Just to concur with what ronzie said, the best way in my opinion is to print out and use the airport diagrams at either the sites he mentioned in his post, or to purchase either the Jeppesen SimCharts or Dauntless Softwares SimPlates through sites like Flight1 or PC Aviator. I personally will go to the net if a particular airport is not listed with SimCharts of SimPlates (I own both).Hope it helps!Cheers,Mike T.
February 20, 200521 yr I know it may sound stupid and un realistic but is there a way to have the so called pink line to use for taxing. If not i'll have to get used to the real way but i've found after setting up an aircraft like the pmdg 737 which can take upto 25 minutes to prepare for departure, i found the pink line at very detailed (complicated) airports to be a time saver. I understand maybe the program won't do it but if it can be activated via a different setting in fs.

Also, what about finding your way at night?
February 22, 200521 yr why not simply use "Airport's Chart Viewer v5.0" ?it's a module in the topdown menu that, once inserted the proper ICAO code, would show you an afcad like map of the airport with proper taxiways and runway. It even shows the AC position and it make the irrealistic pink line finally useless ;-)Luca
