February 11, 200719 yr Hey fellas, another question,I'm going through all my AI aircraft checking the callsigns are correct so RC can identify them and hopefully I'll hear somemore chatter. Anyway I was going though them making sure the ATC Airline in the Aircraft.cfg's match the Callsign box in the RC4 options menu. I thought this was right way to go until I came to Delta, which was just 'd.' This set alarm bells ringing as i knew that can't be right. So my question is, is there a list of callsigns that RC4 reads from that matches to my aircraft.cfg's to say the correct callsign? 🛫
February 11, 200719 yr Commercial Member it's the c4.csv filethe format of the file is carrier_id,file_name,carrier_name,plane_id,aircraft_typecarrier_id is what i match up on, via fsuipc. if i find one, i play the file_namejd JD Read my blog
February 11, 200719 yr Author Thanks JD. so just to clarify, any name in the carrier_id column is the callsign that should be in the aircraft.cfgdoes that mean that delta should be d in the aircraft.cfg for RC to say it? 🛫
February 11, 200719 yr Commercial Member if you edit with excel, and save, you will cause rc to fail. edit with wordpadmake a backup, so if you mess it up, you can go back to a working versioni don't know what is in aircraft.cfg file. all i know is what fsuipc reports the callsign to be. use pete's trafficlook to see what i seejd JD Read my blog
February 11, 200719 yr Hello, and what if the wav file doesn't exist ? Can we still define the airline in the list ? What do I put for filename ?Example : Air Mauritius or Air Madagascar Location : FMEE
February 12, 200719 yr Commercial Member i believe i spell it outalpha india romeo mike alpha.....jd JD Read my blog
February 13, 200719 yr The c4.csv also includes common variations so spelling errors (LLOYD vs LOYYD), common callsign errors (CHINA AIRLINES vs DYNASTY), or phonetic letters (A vs ALPHA) can be automatically detected by RC. So using these inbuilt variations RC will still call for DELTA, wheather it finds "D" or "Delta" in the aircraft.cfg file.Subs
February 14, 200719 yr Ok, sometimes ATC call them via their ICAO Code, e.g. Air Mauritius is called Mike Alpha Uniform two one three (MAU213), or Air Madagascar is called Mike Delta Golf one niner four (MDG194).What do I put in the c4.csv to hear RC ATC call them by ICAO Code ? Location : FMEE
February 14, 200719 yr RC resolves callsigns by what FSUIPC feeds it. RC doesn't know about any airline's 2 or 3-letter codes. So I suspect the error comes from the aircraft.cfg file, where the "atc_airline=" line has been accidently swapped with the "atc_parking_codes=" line. The "atc_airline=" line should contain the callsign, eg:atc_airline=AIR MAURITIUSAnd "atc_parking_codes=" line should contain the ICAO code, eg:atc_parking_codes=MDGIf these are swapped around, it could cause FSUIPC and RC to think the callsign is MDG (aka Mike Delta Golf 194).Subs
February 14, 200719 yr My apologies, after rereading your question, am I right in saying you *want* RC to call Air Mauritius AI as MAU?So currently RC calls them "AIR MAURITIUS" but you want them to be called "MAU"?Subs
February 14, 200719 yr Actually in my FS, RC calls Air Mauritius Flight MAU237, it spell it Alpha 2 3 7, the same for Air Madagascar.Seems that RC reads the first letter of AIR.Very strange. I'm still investigating Location : FMEE
February 14, 200719 yr Commercial Member if i can't find the call sign, i use the first letter of the callsign, and then the numberjd JD Read my blog
February 15, 200719 yr Air Mauritius or Air Madagascar wasn't recorded for v4, but both will be included in v5.Subs
February 15, 200719 yr I see that wav files are recorded for "Mike", "Alpha", and "Uniform". Is there a way to play those three files one after each other to have the callsign spell MAU237 ? I don't know, something in the definition file that would says : play "Mike"+"Alpha"+"Uniform" for Air Mauritius. I see that all callsign are linked to a txt file containing the exact name of the wav file to be played, so If I create a definition txt file including something like : Mike Alpha Uniform, does it work ? Location : FMEE
February 17, 200719 yr Yes it is possible, but you'll need to get the Mike, Alpha, and Uniform wavs and stitch them together into one new file. You'll have to do this for every controller & pilot wavs set. You'll also need to make a script txt file for pilot and controller scripts. Then there is a additional entry in c4.csv you'll need to make as well. All this is a quite a tedious task so it is not recommended, but intructions are available on request.Graham has done additional stitching of wavs and uploaded his work to the avsim library for several airlines. Perhaps it is worthwhile to download them instead, even though I'm not sure MAU/MDG is included in his package?Subs
