July 15, 200718 yr Hi,Well, I reinstalled everything. The past 24 hours during the reinstall were brutal. I think I may have isolated the problem. Can someone try this and see if its just my problem or a problem with FS2004. Let me know what video card and drivers you have as well.1. Start FS2004 in widowed mode and change to full screen mode at the Create A Flight screen. Then create a flight to anywhere, with any aircraft, at anytime. Once FS2004 loads, try going from full screen to windowed mode. Make sure you click outside FS2004 so its Former Beta Tester - (for a few companies) - As well as provide Regional Voice Set Recordings Two: AMD-9950X | One: AMD-7950X3D | Three: Asus TUF 4090s | Three: 64GB DDR5 RAM 6000mhz | Three: Cosair 1300 P/S | Three: 990Pro 2TB NVME One: Eugenius ECS2512 - 2.5 GHz Switch | Three: Ice Giant Elite CPU Coolers | Three: 75" 4K UHDTVs | One: Boeing 737NG Flight Deck
July 16, 200718 yr Commercial Member i can't help, i can't get fs9 to work on my machine at all, and i have a cracked disk 4might help, if you said what kind of card you have. if you ati, no point in nvidia card owners trying your testsand i guess you didn't see my earlier post on your other post.install 1 thing, test. install the next thing, test. keep installing until it breaks. then you know what it is.might be worth install fs9 into a new directory, and see what happens in your three tests. no point in have 40+gb of addons to test basic functionality. if vanilla fs9 fails, no need to install the add ons until it is resolvedjd JD Read my blog
July 16, 200718 yr Author Hi JD,Its not the add-ons. This problem happens with FS2004 with just the Service Patch 1 installed. July 16, 200718 yr Commercial Member data execution protection. new processors have it and i can't remember whether xp had it. i don't think so. it won't allow "data" memory to be executed.is there anything in the event log about fs crashing or becoming unresponsive?you're not overclocking anything, are you?all of your memory dimms are the same speed?, paired correctly? It's under systems properties in the advanced performance section! Make sure it is set for essential window programs and services only. Thanks Tom My Youtube Videos! http://www.youtube.com/user/tf51d

July 16, 200718 yr Hi Mike,I tried your scenario 1 and had no lock ups. I assume your lock up was immediate after returning focus to FS? I am running Vista Ultimate (32 bit) with the nVidia 8800 GTS card and the 158.24 drivers. My normal procedure is to start FS in windowed mode and get my flight set up and started. I then start up WideFS, and let my weather load from ASV. I then switch over to full screen mode. I have not had any lock up issues. Bryan OpalkaNoble Air - Americas Region
