Ok, JD, have done exactly what you asked. Changed all my RC key menu items 1-5 to ctrl-shift-1 thru ctrl-shift-5. Loaded PMDG 747 and flight plan. Started RC, loaded flight plan and hit "fly now". Acft panel opened up with window showing "Radar Contact" and key instructions in red. Keyed in ctrl-shift-1 through ctrl-shift-5 and nothing happened. No voice.Created both a RC log and an FSUIPC log. Am attaching both.(NOTE: AVSIM will not let me xmt the FSUIPC log .zip file because it is too big. I will email it to you separately.)

would you check the file date/time of the .log file you sent me, and the fsuipc.log file. are they about the same date and time?are you pressing the "start rc" button, before flipping over to fs, and flying?jd

Both were created on 2-1-08 at 2:01 pm. Yes, I am pushing the "start rc" button and then the "fly now" button.

the fsuipc log was useless. please follow these steps for the fsuipc log1 Start FSX.2 Go to the FSUIPC Logging options. Set Key press Logging ON, ALL OTHERS OFF! 3 Do NOT, repeat NOT, press any buttons other than "OK".4 Run RC, just enough to see no keypresses working.5 Close RC6 Close FSX7 ZIP the log and send it. what is the crew22.gau? who makes that? what's it for? can you try a stock ms plane, stock ms panel, without that gauge?jd

Ok, resending the files, both FSUIPC and RC logs. Also, one time I went through the procedure and forgot to click on "debug" in RC. Was going to close FSX and start the procedure again when I tried RC... it worked. Closed FSX, closed RC. Started procedure again and when FSX opened, RC would not work.

Only thing I could find was gcrew22.gau located in the FSCrew folder. I have attached a .jpg of the folder.

if you don't know what it is, get rid of ituntil we find out what is going on, on your machine, could we disable any other add-ons that you have?ms plane, ms panel, no other add-onsthen you can add them back, one at a time, until we find which one breaks your fsx/rc combo.also, i may not be reading this right, but do you have one version of fsx, and a new version of simconnect?jd

after you load fsx, load your .pln, is fsx ready to fly when you click "start rc". iow, is fsx running, at the gate, or the runway, or the taxiway, with the ai running, with the wind blowing, the clouds moving?or is fsx still in the intial menus, or you have fsx in a menu, when you click "start rc"?jd

I'm a licensed pilot with a graduate degree. Does that convince you that I'm not ALWAYS an idiot? Hope so. This is one of the classic examples of "pilot error" I've ever been involved with. I was starting RC while the FSX splash screen (menu screen) was still displayed and BEFORE I hit "fly now". Now that I've taken all my meds and read your most recent email and done it the correct way.... everything works fine.I apologize to both of you (Peter Dowson from FSUIP, and John Dekker from Radar Contact) for wasting your time like this. I am, however, impressed by the customer service you both have shown. Wish I could email a Guinness to Pete and a Bud to JD.I'm going to go curl up in the corner and suck my thumb for a while. Thanks again,
