More amateur questions... and I think I did a pretty good job of RTFM...The only way I can get the voices to preview in the RC voices menu is to open RC as "administrator". Whether I open it as administrator or not, when I get into FS the RC display font is RED and the keys (1,2,3 etc.) don't work. I haven't messed with the key assignments and they do not appear to conflict with any FS key assignments that I know of.Any suggestions?

if they aren't working, something is using them.change them to ctrl-shift-1, 2, 3also fs has to have focus. not a gps gauge, not an undocked view, not the fsuipc window. also, fs can't be paused...jd

Still no joy, JD. Changed the key assignments and still nothing. On top of the RC box it says "FSUIPC", should that be there? If not, how do I make it go away? FSX is not paused and the only view open is the cockpit. You talk about "focus", how do I determine that? Again, I apologize for all these questions.

I also noticed that I have Show Text in my modules folder. Should it be there?

Used a "wired" keyboard and still nothing. Sent a new log file.

Are you using a networked machine via WideFS? Is RC not running on the FS machine? showtext.dll is usually only installed on a network host to display messages on a client. It is part of the advdisp package which should not have been installed with current versions of FSUIPC. I would move advdisp.dll and showtext.dll out of the modules folder storing them elsewhere if you are not using a network.

Went to Peter Dowson's page and downloaded the new FSUIPC and installed it. Now FSX won't even open. It stalls and I get a "NOT RESPONDING" notice. Tried opening FSX as "administrator" and still no joy.

uninstall fsuipc, delete the fsuipc.ini file. install fsuipc again. any errors during the install?is this fsx sp1? sp2?jd

A lot has happened since I last posted, JD. Somehow my logbook.bin file got corrupted and I spent almost a week trying to figure out why my FSX wouldn't start. Finally found the answer on one of the forums. Peter Dowson was involved in the troubleshooting and was also surprised that it was the logbook.bin file.Back to RC... have updated FSUIPC and have the latest version according to Dowson. Although the window now says "Radar Contact" instead of "FSUIPC" it still shows red letters and nothing happens when I key in the numbers. I have reset everything to the defaults in RC and have double checked that there are NO conflicts with any other FS or other addon keys.I have generated another log and am attaching it. Hope you can help.

and when you press 1, the main fs window has the focus. a map window doesn't have focus, or an external view has focus.send me another log, another person had the same problem, but he had not upgraded to sp1 and/or sp2. the latest fsuipc might not work with plain vanilla fsx without the upgradesjd

I have upgraded to SP1 but NOT SP2. Have created another log for you (attached). I am also running a program called "end it all" to close background operations and speed up FSX a little bit (actually, a LOT). I am attaching a .jpg of what end it all closes. The ones with a padlock on the left side do not close.Did the last log show my key entries?
