  1. Pretty quiet here, hein..? It seems I am the only one enjoying FU3 these days ..!Apart from the Beechjet and the Mooney, all other planes that I have tried (Trainer, Arrow, ...) appear to exhibit some irregular behavior with the autopilot NAV and APR functions. Especially the NAV. I have noticed the ILS Frequency and the NAV Frequency sometimes are interconnected: entering an ILS freq changes suddenly the NAV freq.Opened the panels in Cockpit Designer, but everything seems normal.Anyone faced this issue?
  2. Hi Hans.I think the disappearance of the cloud cover below is similar to the disappearance of a cloud when the plane gets away from it horizontally. It is governed by the distance of the cloud from the plane, whether horizontally or vertically.I believe this distance can be controlled by the "Cumuliform Distance" in the Options Weather settings. Plus if I remember correctly, there are some config settings that can affect the disppearance of a cloud or how it would look as the distance varies. You can try increasing the value of the "Cumuliform Distance", which is in the flt3.cfg file as "opt_cumuloform_population". I haven't experimented with it much but I keep it at 203.
  3. Win 7 Ultimate.Have you tried what I mentioned last:Right-click on its shortcut, Properties, Compatibility. Run it in WinXP SP2 mode. Also check both "Disable visual themes" and "Disable desktop composition". Also check "Run it as admin". FU3 wouldn't run at all on my rig if I don't make the shortcut properties as above. It is quite finicky to get it running on modern computers.Hope you solve it.
  4. FU3 is running fine on my machine Win 7 64-bit.
  5. Thank you, Andre.So far hasn't arrived.
  6. Hello Juvat. Could you please make sea0801.zip available? sea0802 is in the library but not sea0801.The links above seem to have expired.Thank you
  7. Andre, since you are here, may I ask if you have the file for Weather Unlimited by Markus Brunner? I downloaded the one on his site and it doesn't work for some reason on my rig as per the thread I posted earlier. Does yours work?Sorry to ask this in this thread.
  8. Right-click on its shortcut, Properties, Compatibility. Run it in WinXP SP2 mode. Also check both "Disable visual themes" and "Disable desktop composition". Also check "Run it as admin".See if this works.
  9. Hi, AndyWelcome to FU3 forums. One quick thing to try: right-click on the patch and run it as admin.Another idea: do you have the proper patch? There is us and uk.The game without the patch should work. Try adding:nomoviein flt3.cfg to bypass the opening movie. The movie requires some old codec and if not found might cause the hang-up.
  10. Hello.I installed the program, fourth beta, and ran it. I downloaded Metars using Infometar, saved to a txt file. However whenever I try Metar > Read the file, the program gives an error: dlgcore.cpp, Line 45!!Even if I create my own weather, when it comes time to save it to a wsd file, same error occurs.Anyone can kindly tell me how to solve this error? Thanks
  11. I tried it. With some fiddling, I got it working, however with the primary driver selected the minute I touch a key or a joystick button it hangs. It works ok without the driver and rain appears on the front view.
  12. Hi, Stuart. I sure got it and sent my thanks by email. It sounds beautiful and better than the original in my opinion. Thank you again.Andre, many thanks. I will give it a try
  13. The work by Timeslip, who developed ddfix and who seems to have stopped improving on it, is being continued by jermi over at TTLG. I sent him a note. From reading about it at that forum, it appears that ddfix ver 1.1.1 is based on dx9, whereas all the latest versions, from the one you wrote about ver 1.3.11 and till the last one ver 1.5.12, are based on dx6. I tried locating ver 1.1.1 with no success. That one is worth trying I think.By the way the latest ddfix versions have much more parameters in the ini file, even bloom.
  14. All the planes that I tried: Mooney, trainer, mirage. Some have been fixed with cockpit designer and some in original status. All don't show the rain drops on forward view
  15. Alas Andre, nothing is perfect in life: just found out when I was flying in rain that the lovely water drops effects on the forward-view cockpit don't show with ddfix; only the side windows show the rain effects! Blast, the struggle seems never to end! Any idea why only the forward view lacks the rain effects?
  16. Hello guys.As I mentioned in a previous thread, I had found and cleaned my 7-year old computer that has Voodoo5 5500 AGP in it. FU3 runs beautifully with this card, but as in the past, you have to juggle settings and resolution to get flyable frames. On my modern and fast machine (i7-965 and GTX 580) and with nvidia inspector Fu3 runs perfect except for the ugly banding in the sky and the even uglier blocky haze and fog.Trying to find a solution for a long time, I came across the pinned topic by Andre DDFIX for FU3, wherein he mentions that DDFIX enables, among other things, 32-bit which is the solution for a sky banding and blocky haze/fog. The links to download DDFIXM.7z and the hex editor XVI32.exe seem to be broken but I found them in Google.Following Andre's steps, I got DDFIX enabled and graphics in FU3 are now supreme at great framerates. No banding, no blockiness, but smooth colors! I see that other folks had problems launching the DDFIX-enabled flight3.exe; the trick is in the shortcut Properties:-Run this program in winXP (SP2) compatibility.-Disable visual themes-Disable desktop composition-Run it as administrator. If anyone needs help finding the DDFIXM.7z let me know.So dear Andre, thank you very much for your finding and procedure. Also many thanks to the guy who made this mod for Thief in the first place.
  17. Sent you a message. Might be worth getting it uploaded as well for others. Thanks
  18. Thank you Stuart for the kind words and for the trouble to find the rain sounds file. It is very sad the amount of files we lost during the hack. Kind regards

  20. I looked in the library, it is not there. Anyone got it? Thanks
  21. I am so enjoying FU3+FU2 in winXP and with a voodoo5 that I installed a standalone FU2. It works perfect except that the scattered and broken clouds don't display properly with the driver I have (AmigaMerlin 3.1). The transparecies on the clouds show as black rectangles. If I keep the 3dfx driver that winXP installs automatically, the clouds display properly. But with this driver I can't get 3dfx Tools to work to apply antialiasing. Any users of voodoo5 have any solution?
  22. I wish we could get the cloud issue moving again. Reading this thread, it is a pity it hasn't been finished yet as it seems about 30% of the required work has been done. And the only clouds that really need improvement are the pure cumulus ones, the ones that form out of puffs and the ship-looking ones that are so maddeningly similar to each other. Maybe a group effort? Any takers?
  23. Hehe... sorry Dave, these days I am only enjoying simming; I have been flying in FSX all along, but from now on I will also fly in FU3/FU2. Scenery design takes time, so I am afraid no more from me. Safe simming!
  24. As I mentioned in my other thread titled "Back to FU3 skies", I have found the original Looking Glass sim boxes of FU3 and FU2. Inside and in addition to the English FU3 manual (which I am keeping, sorry!!), there is another brand new manual in a language I can't tell and am too lazy to try to find out. I will just type some words for you to tell: Welkom in de wereld van FU3. Deze vliegsimulator is gemaakt om jou. Maybe Danish? Anyway if anyone is interested let me know and I will happily mail it by post.
