  1. Well chosen, Tom, and congratulations, Steven.I guess I will be visiting this forum a lot. It is nice to discuss our beloved Orbx sceneries in a more communicative forum.
  2. For me it has definitely been the Tecnam. Since I got it I fly it almost all the time.I think I will check out the RV7. Thanks for the feedback, Ron and Jeroen :(
  3. Yes, Brian, as Selkan said your computer should run it well. I have an i7 965 at 3.2/3.3 and GTX 580 and the frames are excellent.Corfu X also by Aerosoft is beautiful but I was disappointed that the island doesn't have autogen all over, only around the town.
  4. And a double WOW..! The textures, autogen, the coastlines... This scenery is extremely charming and well done.I want to thank Aerosoft, Peter Werlitz and Renate Werlitz for this scenery. The roads need to be adjusted a bit (hopefully in a new patch), but the rest is a pleasure to look at and experience.Anyone else likes it as I do?
  5. You are most welcome, kiki. And thank you kindly for your words.
  6. My favorite light aircraft is Ant's Airplanes Tecnam: excellent on frames, simple with a basic autopilot, nice flight model. Whenever I want to explore an area, this is always the plane I load.
  7. Guys, as an AVSIM moderator (not in MS FSX Forum though :(), I kindly request you to refrain from such remarks.Thank you.
  8. I absolutely agree but Orbx has, in addition to the great design talent (Holger, Bill, Heiko, Andreas, Russ, Hugh, Martin and others), it also has great communication as demonstrated in their support forums; their support is truly second to none. But I don't know what happened at the time of this sale: If I were them and wanted to make a sale occasion, I would have put all the pre-pay sceneries on the same discount level as the pre-payers (15%), and all the other products on 33% discount. That would have been out of appreciation for whoever shelled out the money so early before release. That would have been ideal to all.
  9. Hi, Don. I am sorry that our discussion in this thread has affected your decision to buy from Orbx. I would urge you to reconsider and load up what you can in this sale, especially the regions like PNW and NZSI, as your experience in FSX will increase dramatically.I myself have all their products, down to the tiniest utility FSX Go, which is a gem, but I won't be buying from them again because I and others were recently on the receiving end of a scathing rebuke. But you however are just stepping in, and who knows, maybe Orbx will change a bit their attitude toward customers.
  10. Rob, in the initial thread at Orbx where the complaints started, you are right: there were a few emotional outbursts. But the majority of the posters were putting forward legitimate and calm complaints. Then Mr Venema, instead of calming the many complainants and trying to see their point of view, dropped among other things his "selfish and ungrateful" attack. And he locks the thread without giving fair chance of response. I opened a new thread titled with these two words to answer him on that, but it got deleted. I tried to keep this on Orbx forum but every thread dealing with the issue was getting torpedoed. When I started the same thread here at avsim with the same title, I said in the beginning of the thread that I regret having to do that but there was no other option to vent unfairness.Again you are right that loyalty should have kept some emotions in check, but it is equally right that loyalty shouldn't be taken advantage of, which in this pre-pay instance happened, wittingly or unwittingly.I think Mr Venema knows now that some unfairness was dealt to those pre-payers, but it seems he cannot get himself to admit it in public. In spite of all this, Orbx and its highly talented developers (some of whom are friends) will always be highly appreciated, because they have set a major milestone in FSX full-terrain scenery.
  11. Stephen, I really like the way you express things: like a winding road in the countryside that eventually gets you to a destination and a meaning :(
  12. Jackson, iirc Tongass X is published by FSAddons. You can google for it and buy it on their website.
  13. kiki, Anacortes 74S is spectacular, but because of its proximity to Skagit, the couple together put some load on the frames. So my recommendation, if you cannot buy the whole set of NA airfields, is to buy either Anacortes or Skagit and another airport a bit farther away, like Orcas or Jefferson or Harvey.
  14. There is no comparison between the frames over PNW and PFJ. The latter doesn't have the extensive autogen spreads that are in PNW around Seattle and Portland. So frames in PFJ won't be an issue for you even at higher display settings.
  15. Well, the likes of him sure torpedoed the other thread. And he was trying hard to close this one down. Thanks David.
  16. I would start with Harvey and Skagit. They are superb.Get them all if you can
  17. If they had said bad timing when the complaints poured in, they would have solved the matter immediately. But by calling folks selfish and ungrateful... What do they mean ungrateful? Maybe, after having been royally *****ed, we should have stood in line to kiss hands and say thanks. Ethics and understanding still rule in many companies of the world. The smaller the segment of the market, as in flightsimming, the more critical these virtues, as deeds, good or bad, travel fast. Unfortunately, I just a discovered one company that doesn't qualify to them.
  18. I suggest you re-read this thread and the other one about this matter before you venture an opinion. Then you will see it is not the discount and the money that are the issue. It is the backstabbing and the bad-mouthing. If you should feel sorry for anyone, it is for a company that treats long-term customers like that without the bat of an eye; feel sorry for them for their short-sightedness.
  19. Jeroen (J van E) whose posts in Orbx forums I always admired and which have been quite enthusiastic, is demonstrating strength of character by apologizing for what Orbx thinks was harsh outburst on his part.It is worth seeing if Orbx would step up and do the same for what some customers, me included, saw as insulting response to all who participated in that thread.
  20. In the past, Orbx pre-payers paid the full price for a scenery but got to install it 24 hours before the rest, thereby getting the advantage of enjoying it early, but everybody paid the full price.Whereas now, especially with the last two releases, Ketchikan and Jerfferson Co, pre-payers and the rest got all to fly the sceneries within 3-5 days of each other, with the big and unfair difference that new customers are paying even less (getting double the discount) than those who paid two months ago.Normally an error such as this by a great company like Orbx is overlooked and brushed aside if proper corrective action is taken. Unfortunately their action was far from this, adding insult to unfair tactics.
  21. I don't know about you Bryan, but that is definitely not the case with me: I can't buy again from a company that apparently seems to have manipulated their customers, knowingly or unknowingly, and further bad-mouthed them for raising the issue. Even if the products are of high quality, I can do without them and as I mentioned in a deleted thread on their forum, I have lost better things in life.
  22. Jim, the products just got released and are included in the sale already at 33% discount, whereas some customers prepaid for them two months back at 15% discount. But guys, this is no longer the main issue; by slapping their customers as selfish and ungrateful and then immediately locking the thread, that has become the bigger issue.
  23. I regret having to post my reply to Orbx here as Orbx seems to allow itself to slap customers with the words "selfish and ungrateful" in response to a criticism by several about their sale policy, and then lock and delete threads, denying customers the chance to respond.Orbx thinks the complaints are for the money but, as I mentioned in my deleted thread on their forum, it is for fair treatment.Imagine two guys buying one scenery product: one prepaid for it 7-8 weeks ago with 15% discount and got it a few days back, and the other guy buying it now at 33% discount and getting to install it right away! And this happened with eight sceneries that got mostly released in the last ten days.I have already mentioned on my deleted thread that I think I had better pack up and move on from Orbx products and forums. I know it will be my loss as I love their products and bought all of them and appreciate the outstanding talent that they have, but this kind of treatment, followed by words as above, can't stand.
  24. I don't think nHancer works with the latest cards and drivers. Nvidia Inspector does though.
  25. Hello Hans. Download Nvidia Inspector and it will do an even better job than nHancer in my opinion. It runs with the latest cards and drivers.
