  1. Most certainly you can get a license, without restrictions. When I went for my first medical waaaayyy back in 1977, I miserably failed the color test. My student pilot certificate had noted in the limitations section: "Not valid for night flight or by color signal control". I contacted the local FSDO (GADO back in those days) and set up a practical test with an FAA inspector. This involved him and I standing in the parking lot at varying distances from the control tower. The tower personnel would flash a light gun at me and I'd indentify it's color. Piece of cake...Now I have the "Statement of Demonstrated Ability" that I show to the AME if he has any questions about my color blindness. The FAA accepted the waiver without any problems when I got a 1st Class medical also.Regards,ScottCFII/KJMS
  2. JS,For some magnificent Viscounts and Vanguards, take a peek at Rick Piper's site:http://www.btinternet.com/~rick.piper/index.htmRegards,ScottCFII/KJMS
  3. Lots of Rules of Thumb here too:http://www.flightinfo.comLots of real-world aviation message boards too.Regards,ScottKJMS
  4. Greetings all!I agree whole-heartedly with the orginal poster!I would also love to see more of the piston liners (DC4's, 6's, 7',s...etc..)There are some nice models out there, the FS-Design Berlin site (http://www.fsdesign-berlin.da.ru/) comes to mind, but there aren't any panels that really do them justice.Just my .02 worth...Regards,ScottKJMS
  5. I guess it would all depend on what part of the country you are in and how busy (or not busy) the airspace is.Out here on the upper Great Plains, it is very common to hear from Minneapolis Center "Descend at pilot's discretion", "Cleared as filed", or "Cleared direct".Keep in mind that I'm speaking of single engine/light twin IFR operations. It may be quite different for the people flying the heavier iron at the higher altitudes.Regards,ScottCFII/KJMS
  6. I don't have the PSS Dash 8 on my computer, but I seem to recall that in a previous discussion it was revealed that the Dash 8 is not compatible with the straight (original) version of Windows 98. It will only run on machines that have Win98ME/SE or XP. If I remember correctly this information is in the documentation for the add-on and at the PSS download site. Regards,ScottKJMS
  7. Thanks for all the replies and info!Much appreciated,ScottKJMS
  8. Greetings all! I'm sick of interrupted downloads (no, not from this site) due to a slow 'net connection. Could anyone please recommend a download utility that will reconnect and resume the download after the connection is lost?I searched the forums here for "download accelerator" and "download utility" but nothing came up. I apologise if this question has been addressed before.Regards,ScottKJMS
  9. Thanks to all who responded to my original post! Lots of great info.Regards,ScottKJMS
  10. Well, you can do at least the ground portion(oral) of the BFR (Biennial Flight Review, or more accurately, just "Flight Review" according to the regs now) done. When I give Flight Reviews I try to set up a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere in that the person receiving the Flight Review understands that it is not a "test", but a positive learning experience. I first talk with the person about what type of flying they do, what areas they think they are weak in, and concentrate on those...with attention paid to any regulatory changes that might have occured that they are not aware of. As for the flight portion we do the usual airwork (slow flight, steep turns, stalls, emergencies, etc...) and several landings. I'm not looking for perfection, but just want to make sure the person is safe and competent.Just my .02 worth.Regards,ScottCFII/KJMS
  11. Paco,Your Connie project is the best news I've heard in a long time!Love those old propliners!!!Regards,ScottKJMS
  12. Donna,Thank you for the info. I checked the version of AirEd that I'm using and discovered it was v1.10 (only *slightly* behind the times, am I). I downloaded v1.52 and the updated ini file from the site in the above post. I'll have a go with it tomorrow.Once again, thanks for the help.Regards,ScottKJMS
  13. Hi Donna,Thanks for posting the suggested changes to the cfg and air file for the aircraft in question. I made the first set of changes and that improved the roll response dramatically. However in trying to implement the rest of the changes regarding yaw, I'm not finding alot of the records in that you mention using AirEd in REC 1101. Could you please give me a little guidance as how/where to find them?Regards,ScottKJMS
  14. Thanks - I'll give it a tryScottKJMS
  15. Hi all!I was wondering if any of you folks could recommend a good random weather generator for use in FS2K2?I prefer to stay away from one that uses real world metars to generate the weather since my 'net connection is pretty slow and shakey.Regards,ScottKJMS
  16. There's a real gem (at least in my humble opinion) that has recently been released. It's a Focke-Wulf FW200 Condor. It comes with a very nice panel and virtual cockpit. Also includes 3 liveries and extensive documentation. Just took it up for a quick flight and seems to fly pretty nicely too...although of course I have no idea what the real one flew like ;-)The file name is fw200a2.zip and it is available on the "other" site, and also at:http://www.fsfreeware.com/The only thing lacking is a good sound package. The sound cfg defaults to the FS2K2 Corsair.Hope you like it as much as I do!Regards,ScottKJMS
  17. Hi all,I'm in the same boat as Nick - a horrendously slow 'net connection.I emailed FlightOne asking about the availability of the DC-9 on CD. They said it would be released on CD within 3 - 4 weeks.Just thought you'd all like to know.Regards,ScottKJMS
  18. Hi there!I was just wondering how large the download file(s) is, and what kind of computer it takes to run it?Regards,ScottKJMS
  19. David Durst has some Arrow II, III, & IV's on his site. Here's the link:http://www.fspanels.com/Regards,ScottKJMS
  20. Also available at this link...about mid-way down the page:http://www.fsfreeware.com/dcd/New/Regards,ScottKJMS
  21. Where *did* that mystery panel come from? I would like to give it a try...Regards,ScottKJMS
  22. Milton & Co,Just wanted to let you know I'm also getting the crash to desktop when selecting the overhead panel. Other than that it's great! Love those t-prop aircraft...and this creation of yours is magnificent!!!Hope you can find a work around for the overhead problem....Regards,ScottCFII/KJMS
  23. Dan,The re-worked panel looks great! If you need any help testing it, let me know....nodak@buffalocity.netScottKJMS
