  1. I'm also on Bushnet - sitting in the parking area at SEMT in my sturdy Cessna C310
  2. I have been having a problem connecting to Bushnet- sometimes I can and sometimes I can't. After reading many forums postings, it seems that this is a common problem - and the only reasonable answer I can find is that,in FS2004,it is essential that players lower their FPS to no more than 20 when on multiplayer - because of the way in which data is transmitted across the Internet at the same rate as your FPS.Regards Barry
  3. Hi MMCould you kindly contact me by email wardb3@tpg.com.au after you land.I have a big problem trying to connect to Bushnet - sometimes I can but mostly I can't. Right now, you are connected and I can't connect -- but I could connect before you connected :(Would like to talk to you about your settings. Thanks Barry
  4. >You need to manually deploy the landing lights on the C310>after turning them on, the switch is a threeway toggle ;)Yes - I know, but something happened last night and I found that I had no lights in the C310. Lights in other a/c worked fine - but I have discovered today that the FSSkyworld programme changes the landing lights in the Sim and it somehow didn't like the 310. Replacing the default landing spotlight and all is back to normal againNow , if I could just solve my Bushnet connection problem as easily!!!Barry
  5. Why fast ?? It was all I could do to handle my old C206 in the dark last night . I was going to fly my C310 -- but something happened to the landing lights -- no workee , that is. I have never flown her at night so it just goes to show that these practice sessions do some good!!Barry
  6. OK - I have seen STONECOLD land at MMCS . So I'm off to Las Cruces International in my trusty C206. It'd #### dark outside at 1.30AM - hope I can find the airport . It's at 4500 feet to so I will have to see how the Cessna likes landing at that altitude.Barry
  7. Well, I think maybe that , although our little trial was of great value (at least to me) , it confirms my thoughts posted elsewhere in the AVSIM forums a week or so ago, that there seems to be little interest in the race.Admittedly, maybe this exercise earlier today may have been able to be better announced (no criticisms of anybody here - just trying to be "constructive".) I went online here at 6AM local time to find that others had been flying though "my nightime" . Took me awhile to wake myself up and pick up the baton at one of the stops.Anyway, I was only able to fly one leg -- I have problems connecting to Bushnet which I can't at this time solve. I can always connect when there is nobody else flying - and sometimes I can connect when there are others flying-- but it is totally "hit and miss" . I have been to other VA websites that use multiplayer as part of their operations and it appears that this is a common problem , but one for which there seems to be no answer. Anyway, I flew my leg ofline. Personally, I believe one of the biggest challenges of planning a leg (given that you don't really know if you are going to fly a particular leg until fairly close to takeoff time) is to plan to fly to an airport taking into account the 2 hour flying time allowed and the speed of your a/c. If you strike a headwind like I did , then you are definitely going to have to put down at an alternate airstrip and notify the other fliers of the change in plans -otherwise you go over the allotted 2 hours and have to start again. But, all this is a bit futile if we can only manage to gather in 3 or 4 fliers.Barry
  8. The Advanced Flight Simulator Data programme at http://perso.wanadoo.fr/hsors/FS_Soft/afsd.html may be of help to you.Barry
  9. I must have made up a bit of time -- got down in exactly 1hour and 1 minute between the time I posted that I was flying to the time I posted that the Baton is free.Barry
  10. Making 210 knots GS -- have a 23 knot headwind from the W-NW - ETA approx 30 mins. Will be about 8 minutes over my allotted 1 hours flying time, so if this was the race for real, I would have to start looking for a closer let down airstrip and advise the next flier so that he can set himself up.Barry
  11. I CAN connect to Teamspeak -- but nobody seems to be using it.Barry
  12. Ok - I am waiting at KIAB - planning to fly to Garden City regional KGCK in Cessna 310Barry
  13. STILL can't connect to Bushnet. Anybody else tried to connect over the past 20 minutes or so?Barry
  14. OK -- looks like JT has the baton. I will maybe take it next stop. One thing we all need to rememebr is that during the race, we MUST not go over our 2 hours flying time - otherwise we have to startover. So if we encounter headwinds , then we must put down at an alternative airport within the 2 hour timeframe. So with this practice session, we should be aiming to make it from takeoff to setdown within 1 hour exactly !!Barry
  15. Cant connect to Bushnet -- as far as I can see , Bushnet is HOPELESS. I can never connect when I want to -- sometimes I can and sometimes I can't. It sems more like that most times I can't.Barry
  16. I was trying to get onto Bushnet today - at a time when I believe ( or at least I think) a small number of the Alaskan Winds members were flying. I have noticed them on the Bushnet before and have tried to join the session -- but I get the infamous "can't connect to all players" message. As soon as the group leaves the Bushnet, I can connect.I have read elsewhere that this problem can happen if one flier has his router ports set up incorrectly -- I am not technical enough to know all the correct details.Anyway, I am just wondering what can be done about this - any "Alaskan Winds" people there?Regards Barry
  17. I have noticed some differences of opinion as to where to install mesh in FS2004.Can someone pease advise where it is "best" to install mesh - and why? Thanks Barry
  18. The dynamic shine on the a/c exterior model makes the a/c look much more attractiveBarry

In fact only yesterday, I cleared out my aircraft folder of all a/c that do not have a nice VC. I still have over 50 a/c (almost all freeware) to fly - more than I could do in a lifetime , I thinkBarry
