  1. Thanks dazz......Yours is very similar to what I chose, except I had tried to work in Word Not Allowed's "2x Sparse Grid Sampling". I am going to give your "4x supersampling" a go.....Btw: I am using (the almost) newest NI, and the newest Nvidia drivers......And I am using the 1/2 Refresh Rate (in NI) with frames set to max 30 in FSX.
  2. Just trying to get back into FS.....I have the latest Inspector and video card drivers. I would be interested to see the Inspector settings of other 460 owners (for some direction)....Btw: I7-930 OC to 4.0 Mhz. .......Thanks in advance.....swanfly
  3. I am just setting up a computer for FSX, and this was a good question (for me, too). Is there a guide/list of what installs where?I will be using a 600G Velociraptor. Initial installs will be PNW, REX, F1 Mustang, F1 PC12 (maybe).....Later: GEX, UTX.Thanks for all the info already.....Bill.
  4. Thanks, Mike. The latest post from NickN looks like the ticket, and the previous link to Tabs' method was informative, too. Thanks, jja. You are right - Inspector is not that daunting.....Bill.
  5. Just getting ready to load FSX on new computer (which includes an MSI GTX-460 video card). Any observations on which is the better route to go for getting the best visuals? There is the new "NVidea Inspector" v1.92 (which looks complicated). And there is NHancer which needs a workaround, i believe.....thanks, Bill.
  6. Thanks for the info. The MCP "Advanced..." is the one I need (for smaller planes). I wonder if there is a universal setup for all (smaller) payware planes.....Yikes your Pro module looks (and fits) great....Bill.
  7. Just getting back into FS (FSX), and would like to use a hardware autopilot like GoFlight MCP (and a Comm/Nav unit). I will probably also purchase the Flight1 PC12, but will be using other similar aircraft (payware and stock). Do Goflight units work with most aircraft? Is there a list?.....When I emailed GoFlight over a year ago with a similar question, I received no reply......So, I don't want to spend a bundle of money if it does not work on the planes I will be flying......Any advice appreciated - thanks in advance, Bill.
  8. Assuming 150 knots in terminal area, (and 15 deg. flaps), would you gradually lose speed, so you don't have too much to give away (at once) when you intercept glideslope?.......I'm assuming dropping of gear at GS intercept would be normal way of losing some speed. Thanks in advance for any info, Bill. btw: PC-12 is FlightOne's.
  9. Using 15 deg. of flap and gear down, if I approach at book approach speed of 98 knots, approach seems correct ( power back to 5-10%)......but if I center AOA, speed decays to approx 89-90 [which is 30 deg flap bookspeed??]. Am I doing something incorrectly? Thanks for any advice, Bill.....btw: This is with FlightOne PC12.
  10. Just did an emergency upgrade (Amd 64-3000+, 512m of Crucial Ballistix 3200, and ATI 9550se video card being the main items). I know the video card is not on the same level as the processor (this will be the second computer when I get my act together, so I did not want to go hog wild)...But I have an idea. With most sliders set pretty high I do get very good average frame rates (30-60 with no cap) as long as I don't do extreme view changes in the Seattle area. However, I do get pauses on final, and periodically, when turning steep or checking all views. I am going to increase the ram (1 more 512 stick of Ballistix), plus I will be (minorly) overclocking the whole system. I figure these measures should help reduce the pauses/stutters (as FS9 is so CPU dependent) and help to offset the 64 bit bus constraint....Any input greatly appreciated. BTW: the Video card does have 256M of ram onboard. Oh yeah... I will be adding Flight1 Meridian, Active Sky, Ultimate Terrain, and flying online - so the hardware workload will be increasing.
  11. I know I said thanks in advance, But i must say WOW - excellentadvice (to-the-point and fast)....thanks again, Bill.
  12. Just getting set up to fly on instruments in the Vancouver-Seattlearea....Have scenery I need, & now i'm looking for the best online (and offline?) weather generator. Looks like FSMeteo v.7 is a winner...but pretty expensive. Are there any other decent alternatives? Also, I assume I need some good cloud replacement files to help with the realism....do I need the fps-friendly freeware offering from FSW? Or are there better options? Shoot! One more question: What's a good flight planner? Thanks in advance for any advice, Bill.
  13. Thanks for the input...here's an update: I did check "reverse" on the "x" and "y" axis in flightsim, and when I started up again the BRAKES were off...However, as soon as I (barely) touch a rudder pedal, they are stuck on again!??. I have calibrated in CHManager 3.6, but have not done any changes there, because quite honestly, it is notuser-friendly. And, just to complicate matters, keystroke brakes has no affect...thanks again, Bill
  14. Just started using FS9 and have a brake problem - the Brake(s)won't release. I have CHProducts USB Yoke and pedals. I tried deletingthe "x" and "y" axis of the rudder pedals.....but no luck. Is this a glitch rendering the pedal brakes useless, or could there be a workaround somewhere? Any advice would be much appreciated...Thanks, Bill.
  15. Is there a patch put out by microsoft for FS9? I see various patches for add-ons when I do a search....but nothing from MS. Thanks in advance, Bill.
  16. Just getting started again, and need a plane I will be able to fly on instruments (and online)....Quality of Flight model is prime to me.Single engine turboprop is what I would really like (and I will pay if no quality freeware is available in this area)....BTW: I tried the default Grand Caravan and was very disappointed in its approach characteristics. Thanks in advance, Bill.
  17. Just started simming again (FS2004), and will be flying in the Vancouver/Seattle and B.C. coastal areas....any obs on the best scenery for this area?.....Thanks in advance, Bill.
