  1. Originally created in X-Plane 11 for our race team I have fully ported it over to 12 following the cancelation of the series and it is so much fun in VR. Designed to be super frame rate friendly you can get around the track silky smooth. Love it. Fun times and all stored locally. Who'd have thought. Cloud is for weather not storage. Just saying.
  2. It is amusing that many businesses are finding the cloud is not the holy grail it was made out to be and moving back to on prem, speaks volumes.
  3. With the release of the new sim I was excited like everyone else, having not been able to use the game up till now I tried again and after 20 minutes loading success (1gb internet), I was on the runway with this Who is the creepy red dude? Is he blue for intel users? If this streaming is the future then I guess I will be classed as a retro gamer from now on, done with it, refund submitted.
  4. The scenery is this one http://www.rikoooo.com/en/downloads/viewdownload/68/702 . The origin site I think is this one but my Spanish is zero so can't really find out more.
  5. Woke up to such a grey day I thought I know lets go to Tenerife. 4 hour flight and made it in one piece. Only in the virtual world I know but hopefully come November I will be back there for real. Been awhile since I did much flying but the love is still there. In my day job I get to work with the team that operates 727's
  6. Hey thanks for all the info. From the various replies it seems I will have to live with the various quirks both sims suffer from although I was hoping x-plane would be my new sim and I could retire FSX. I don't mind flying them both if I can't move forward I guess. No traffic unless online is a major pain.
  7. Hi all, Ok I'm new to X-Plane after many on the MS side of the fence and I am trying to adjust. There are many things I am struggling with as I try to move forward after the death of FS among which are the sight at my local GA airfield of a B52 and a NASA 747 trying to take off, random ATC chatter and strange looking roads. Tonight a major curve ball was setting up a flight at my local airfield (EGKA) with real weather as we are in the middle of a bad storm 80mph winds, heavy rain etc to load up the sim with clear skies and the Northern light's dancing across the skies as I'd think they would appear in the far north. Is it just me that has messed up my X-Plane install or is this to be expected??? David G
  8. Ok the old site does the job but come on it does look very dated. The move to a new style is a good move and hat's off to Avsim volunteers (remember that part please, often forgotten I think) for trying to move Avsim forward. They will make it better, they will make it more user friendly, they will make it easier for them to administer (another important part to remember I think) and they will make it work.Keep up the good work Avsim crew. You have my support, patience and respect.
  9. This one is still uphttp://www.arianedesign.eu/
  10. Looks interesting for sure. I just love the feel of night flying in x-plane.I was going to order it after losing the battle with FSX but I will wait a bit longer if X-Plane 9 is about to be out of date. Don't fancy buying it now and have to buy it again so soon.
  11. Yep add me to the list. Not sure if using the unsubscribe link is a good idea or maybe contact them by phone.
  12. I could not belive my eyes when I read this post on simflight.com and this on the site itself.A business begging for donations due to "deteriorating world-wide economic conditions" and "legal expenses for the custody action " is this a joke? I know times are tough, my work is no different but if we begged our customers for a donation they would most likely laugh and never deal with us again.Unreal!!!!
  13. Hi All,A quick question. Is there anyway to run a panel and gauges on another PC without FS running? I have FS on my gaming PC but would like to run a panel and gauges on my laptop but the laptop in not up to running FS really. Just wondered if it can be done easily.RegardsDavid G
  14. One of my fav GA aircrafthttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/173958.jpgRegardsDavid G
  15. The video does look impressive but the words "Technology Demonstration" at the begining and "Modelling & Rendering" at the end make me thing FSX will not look the same way.I too fell for the original hype of the first VFR scenery and it was quickly removed after too many technical probs and the lack of night/season textures.Lets hope one of the 2 products deliveres this time around.RegardsDavid G

  17. No all machines work great. Unlocked they get fps in the +50's with 20fps at busy airports.
  18. OK real basic run down of the PC's is as follows:PC 1:AMD 64 X2 44001gb ram7800GTX 256mb PCI-eAsus A8N-SLI PC 2:AMD XP 28001.5gb ramATI X800 256mb AGPMSI KT4 UltraPC 3:AMD XP 30001gb ramFX5950 AGPMSI KT4 UltraAll use the onboard network, no extra cards for that.
  19. The router and cards are all 10/100 Mbps. I use a linksys BEFDSR41W router. I disconnect the ADSL phoneline then Firewalls and Antivirus are all off on all machines.
  20. Thanks for the replies.I think the only way I'll get to do what I want is in a multiplayer session. My son of 8 is a reasonable pilot it turns out. He pulled off his first solo MSFS flight tonight as practise to help me bless him.
  21. Hi all,I was wanting to record a flight in FS for a little idea I had.I remember awhile back there was a program used for scenery design called "dynakit" or something like that which allowed you to record a flight then save it so and AI plane would fly the same flightpath you recorded. Is there a way or program to do the same in FS2004. I know I could make a standard flightplan with TTools and have a plane fly it but I wasn't after a normal flight more like an airshow routine etc.Any ideas how I can do this? If not then I guess multiplayer is the only way to go.
  22. Hi all,Just a quick question.Where are people getting their AI models from now?I have Project AI and AI Aardvark in my fav's but are there more people making good AI models. What names should I be looking for?.I'm really keen to get good 777 and A32x models if anyone can point me in the right direction I'd be most greatful.David G
  23. My little hope for FSX on top of the many already posted that I agree with is that the VC models can be seperate. In the same way panels, sounds and the visual models are. I'd like to see the VC as a seperate model you can alias to other aircraft. I think that would be very useful, I'm sure I'm not alone with that thought.David G
  24. I would assume that this Peter Max guy was paid to design the scheme for Continental. So surely the copyrights to it are theirs???I can't belive that Continental own the plane and he owns the paint, that just wouldn't make sense. The painters at Boeing and Airbus don't claim copyright to every plane they work on right.David G
