  1. Guys, None of the real world B200 pilots who've reported on the Flight1 B200 have complained about excessive ballooning. It's just a fact of life -- flaps exist to increase lift. Is it pronounced in the F1 King Air? Yes, but it's also pronounced in the real airplane. Those of us who flew the Aeroworx B200 are well familiar with how hard it was to get that airplane onto the runway. It seemed to float forever. Turns out, that's something that real world King Airs are notorious for. Is the F1 B200 a perfect simulation? No, but then nothing is. The F1 King Air does get most things right, though, and if you use the techniques advocated by Tom Clements (who has more than 35,000 hours in King Airs), then you'll find out just how good it really is. The tutorial, by the way, was written with Mr. Clements' techniques in mind.
  2. Looking at the credits, I thought: "Who is Rex Clouds?" Very nicely done!
  3. http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?DLID=&Name=&FileName=&Author=Kurt+Kalbfleisch%2C+Flight1&CatID=root
  4. The tutorial for the Flight1 B200 is done and uploaded. Just waiting for it to show up on the server.
  5. It'll be up on the Flight1 Library, and probably here, as well. It's essentially done...I have it out to a couple of guys to look it over, and once I incorporate their feedback, I'll post it. Just a few more days!
  6. Well, I am admittedly biased, since I have been so heavily involved with the development of the Flight1 B200. I think you've hit the nail on the head in describing the differences between these two products; they are intended for somewhat different audiences. Both are sold through the Flight1 wrapper, I believe, so it's really a matter of personal preference.
  7. I did it shortly after the C90's release, Ryan. Working hard on a B200 tutorial for the Flight1 B200. The first part should be out in the next few days. I was gonna suggest that. B)
  8. Stan, Come on over to the Flight1 B200 support forum and let the guys who are most familiar with the installer help you out. They're not trying to hide anything, it's just easier to track issues when they're called out in their own forum.
  9. Phillip, Your member name at Simforums is "okphillip"? If so, the problems you reported were attributed to the well-known FSX "short battery life" problem. Three solutions were offered, but you availed yourself of the refund instead.
  10. Six weeks ago, I took delivery of my fifth BMW. I've been driving them for twelve or thirteen years now, and I feel like I know BMW pretty well. Before that, I owned a succession of Japanese cars, so I'm not unfamiliar with them. Not even remotely. What keeps me coming back...what keeps most BMW owners coming back to BMW is the quality of their products, and the quality of their service. Now, when you compare quality of service between these two companies, one of them consistently comes up short, while the other backs its products with ongoing and regular updates, sometimes just to add a widely-requested feature for free. On that score, at least, you have the comparison reversed. Of course, there will always be a Toyota owner out there who thinks their precious little Prius has more pizzazz than my 535i GT, and quite frankly, I don't care if they do. I think it's cute, because clearly, those people have NO IDEA what they're talking about.
  11. You do not use SHIFT+1 to "access" the VC. Note again that in the manual, there are only SHIFT+2 through SHIFT+5. Nowhere does the manual say that you can or need to use SHIFT+1 to access the VC. What I'm saying is that the view listing that comes up when you hit, say, SHIFT+7, is going to list the panel sections in order...since the first panel section is the VC, it shows up as "SHIFT+1" on that list, but you can't use it. For further support questions, please post in the B200 support forum at simforums.com. Ryan wasn't being brushed off. He was mistaken. It happens.
  12. Robert, That SHIFT+1 is the main VC and as far as I know, it's got to be there. Nothing we can do about it. You'll find that on other aircraft, as well. If you look at the manual, the meaningful ones are SHIFT+2 through SHIFT+5. There actually IS a Cold & Dark setting, located in the Maintenance Module, which you can access through the addons menu in the sim.. There were things we wanted to do (like change the color scheme of the cabin) that had to be done outside the sim, hence the options executable.
  13. Thanks, Henry. Great feedback!
  14. Henry, would you please post this comment in the Flight1 B200 forum? It'd be helpful if you could elaborate on it, too. Thanks!
  15. Brent, I wrote the manual. There's some operational notes in there that are the kind of thing I'd usually put into a tutorial. That said, I'm open to the idea, and if folks want it, I'll write one. Barfly, the manual is in the main FSX folder...apparently a glitch with the installer. It's also in the Start menu under Flight One Software > King Air B200.
  16. Why would Sony sue a 14-year-old? I don't have P3D and I haven't read LM's EULA, but when guys whose business it is to make and sell flight sim addons tell us, "We don't think it's worth the risk," I think they're entitled to say so. Maybe they are losing a little business, but they're allowed to make their own business decisions. When P3D makes good business sense for their companies, they'll start producing for P3D. Thank you. We worked hard on her.
  17. It works with SP2 or the Acceleration Pack.
  18. Yes, it models the PT6A-52 as correctly as possible. No, fuel flow DOES change when you adjust prop RPM. Yes, beta range works as it should. Because it's easier to develop for Android. The extra administrative burden associated with iOS is pretty substantial. Still, I wouldn't rule out an iOS version in the future.
  19. Jim Rhoads actually has said unequivocally that he makes a distinction between an entertainment product (Flight1 products) and a trainer (F1 Tech), and he's been saying it for years in this and other forums. Selling "full-featured" versions of software with larger price tags is a standard industry practice. Take Photoshop as an example. Many of us have the "personal use" version that cost, what, $60? If ALL the features are important to you, the full-featured version is available for a much higher price. You are absolutely right when you say that Flight1 is protecting their business interests. The simple truth about small business is that every decision a company makes involves risk management. (Heck, that's true of big business, too.) Most individuals can get away with violating a EULA, but a company, even a small one? The penalties can be very high if the grantor of the license decides to sue. The market for MSFS GA addons is already very small, and like it or not, the P3D personal use market isn't big enough yet to offset the risk of potential litigation. Jim's a pretty savvy businessman, though, and it's probably a safe bet that if the market shifts in the direction of P3D, Flight1 will go with it. To get back on topic, the Flight1 King Air is one of a handful of what I'd call "robust GA simulations", and if you have room for anything in your FSX hangar, this one is well worth consideration.
  20. Gregg, Maybe this will answer your question: I don't really know what LINDA does. As for your peripheral controllers, the setup is exactly the same as with the Mustang. Exact same commands.
  21. It does have TAWS. I'm getting better frames than I do with the Citation Mustang using an i5-2320, 8GB RAM, and an nVidia GT 430 video card. The Android app is about as easy to use as you can get...it's not the full "FMC" since the B200 with a G1000 suite doesn't have one, it's the GCU 477 MFD Controller. It's VERY nice not to have to pop up a 2D panel for it!
  22. Opus should switch the radio button to "User defined Weather" automatically. If it's not, you might go over to their forum and ask how to get it to do that.
  23. Check the "User Defined Weather" radio button on the FSX Weather page.
  24. Check your weather settings in FSX, not Opus. Make sure that you're actually getting Opus into the sim and that you're not getting a weather theme instead. The default "fair day" weather setting will give you clouds on the ground at KJAC since the cloud level is about 6,000 feet.
  25. I'm surprised no one has mentioned the PMDG J41 or the Aerosoft Bronco.
