  1. I agree...I had been running since v5.x release without Orbx Vector...but recently did a run up the Sarnia River, Michigan/Ontario water boundary, between lake St. Clair, and lake Huron, and ended near the Blue Water Bridge. The coastline on both sides of the Sarnia River, was horrible...and ridiculous looking, and jagged with P3D v5.3 vector files. I then reapplied Orbx Vector, and flew the river again. It looked (I know the river well...having toured it by R.L. general aviation) and it looked very close to reality, post Vector installation. So...for myself, I am going to run Vector in all v5.x iterations.
  2. P3D v5.3 HF2 A.S. (HF2 latest version) active. Rob, E.A. on...with visible haze and scatter. This is now my 'in stone' settings.
  3. The real P.I.t.A. was the Start Locks of the prop feather levers. on the Otter. Nowhere does it say how to un-lock, and found out by a Net search on that you have to put the two throttle levers into reverse Beta and wait for a thrust peak, then move them back to idle. Then, you can place them out of full flat, to nominal. I want to be able to fire up the Pratt's as fast as I see the Maldivian Water Taxi Captains complete the task...I'm already using the pedals 'barefoot'....lol. I just wish that the Maldives were more (in P3D) than truly sand bar islands...but I have not looked on line yet, to see if anybody has produced a detailed scenery of the island chains. P3D has beautiful water masks (shallow reef and coral) in the whole area of that part of the Indian Ocean. It's just that right now...the Maldives, are (in P3D) basically treeless and auto-gen(less) sand bars... Orbx Global, HD Trees doesn't seem to even touch them... Post Edit: I see that Aerosoft has the Maldives X, but in looking at it...sort of between FS9 and FSX'ish... So...will stick with the default and use my own 'auto-gen Jedi Mind Trick generator....'
  4. I just didn't get the joke, Chris. I'll bet you that I don't...but, I can say that I was once at the controls (co-pilot's seat) of a Lear Jet, over mid-Kentucky at 41,000 feet. My friend (passed away now) was a Corporate Pilot for a major company, that had to go up for a cabin window re and re pressure test, so invited me for the flight. We climbed to FL410, and then he said how would I like (knowing I was a flight sim head) to actually take control (with his fingers not one inch from his yoke, lol) of the Lear, and he would instruct me to bank right, and bank left, while keeping altitude, which I did...then a slow decent 500 feet and then a rise of 500 feet, before A.T.C. contacted us...and that was a thrill of my lifetime, let me tell ya.... I actually 'flew' a Lear Jet for all of five minutes...before I heard, "I have control" in my left ear.....
  5. There are some pics of my first plop down, near the Maldives...in my Twin Otter post...just after those few snaps, I almost toasted the right Pratt....not a pretty sight...lol.
  6. Yes I just picked up today, Aerosoft's Twin Otter 100/300 Extended, for P3D v4, which can be installed also in v5.x, and have been enjoying the whole package, wheel models, pontoon, amphibian (both wheels and pontoon) .
  7. Flying the Maldivian Float Service all morning and this is hand's down now my favorite P3D plane. "Don't take it too hard, Kodiak 100...for uh...,for didn't we have Paris?!?".... "We'll always have had Paris, Kodie Girl..." "Ottie Gal, I now have the hots for YOU!".... 😉
  8. I just pointed to v4 5 and v5.3. The installer ran both times...and I have flown the versions in each P3D version. Needed to do nothing else, other than go onto the Net to find the product manual and download the PDF. That's about it...and oh...start a Pratt on fire...
  9. "Uh..yep...have already been serenated by the FIRE bell alarm....! Learning ramp...but getting there....and so worth the purchase, as my opinion. Really liking the Amphibian 300 as that is my go-to config...had to figure out the Start Locks though!" Had to go out to the Net for a Google Search.
  10. Aerosoft Twin Otter 100/300's EXTENDED package.... Been flying purchase for the morning, and I have to say, for 29 Euros, it gives great value! You have every configuration you could want...wheels, floats, and a full amphibian that will land you anywhere! All models, the 100's and the 300's handle beautifully in the air, all models look great and are well detailed. Cockpit is very detailed...and the sounds of the Pratt's...are awesome, from idle to the stops. The models have a 'heavy' feel to them...meaning that you are feeling you are in control of the heft and gross weight. For what you pay, and for what you get....a truly great package value. You can set it up to engines running and ready to move out, or for the Study Dudes...Dead 'n Cold. The start-up is detailed...and environs must be met, or the Pratts just sit there and laugh at you.... Total thumb's up!
  11. Ready to start my career in the Maldives... [/url
  12. Sure did...and why I didn't buy this plane sooner, sure beat's me.....as I love water operations, and wanted to simulate a career with Maldivian Air, over the Maldives Island Chain. I watched a YouTube video this morning all about them, and their entire fleet is of both the Twin Otter 100 and the 300's...so now I have both...and can't wait to sign up. Captains need a minimum of 10,000 hours on pontoon versions...and so I will have to er...ah....FUDGE, my application. I hope they don't hang out on AVSIM.... Loaded it into v4.5 as well. A great package and get the paint zip as well... To 'point' to your v5.3 install, you need to use the BROWSE button on the right of the window...and then point to your v5.3 root folder, and let 'er rip. If all goes well, you will get a Successful Install at the end notification. Now...off to earn some dough flying passengers around the Maldives! 🙂 See ya...
  13. I have been for about a month 'hang wringing' and flipping between the clear 'out to the far mountains 50 miles out' of not running with E.A. on...but....(and here's my hand wringing...) as much as I love to see all the 'candy' clear out 50 miles...it JUST AIN'T R.L. I know...that...and have finally today with flying HF2...decided that I will always now fly with E.A. as enabled. It does, look R.L. and I admit, so many times in real life flying...that there are many days, even in so called 'clear sky'...that your vision to the ground is disturbed by hazy atmospherics, especially on hot and humid Summer days. So...if I want to see what' 'there' is 50 miles away in Orbxville...I will have to now FLY TO IT. Oh my...what a chore! So...fly close, and rubber neck, in Real Life views...rather than be lazy and do a virtual 360...on a straight flight path, with E.A. off. Now..to go out and buy the P3D Otter 100 (WITH FLOATS!)....it's gonna be another semi-retarded, er...semi-retired day flying the new Otter 100, and avoiding anything my wife threatens to add to the 'Honey Do' list...if I don't soon leave the Den....!!!
  14. OH...OK! So, that XMLTools64 that djBully mentioned gets installed with a v5.x point? SOLD....on my way to it...and can't wait. All the hype over the MSFS version has me hyped now too, but...won't buy it for MSFS until they (Asobo) finally finishes all water graphics, and at least...gets it to the magnificent renderings of P3D v5.3. So...the Otter will fly in P3D v5.3...until then... Right now, I find MSFS water near about between FS9 and FSX.
  15. That's great! So, would the XMLTools64 install (with the installer pointed to my P3D v4.5...and then, I only have to copy/port the Otter 100 folder and the XMLTools64 folder? Is that how I follow you? If that is the case, then I would also install this in my v4.5 as well, and then secondly move over both folders...right? Post Edit: Does the XMLTools64 folder go in the ROOT folder? If not, where does it go...(gets installed in v4.x)?
  16. On the web page for it, it only stated for P3D v3 and v4. Does anybody have this plane...that they had running (still running) in v4.x and ported it (copied the folder) over into v5.3...and does it run...with no missing textures, missing cockpit, or any artifacts? I'd like to buy this...but want to only run it in v5.3 HF2. Can anybody advise? Thanks...
  17. Sure doesn't hurt to do that! After reading the notes...I felt at least the Content after Client. I had to pull over my Beaver from v4.5 as the Content overwrote my Beaver files...and wiped out the Virtual Cockpit. Got it back with a three second copy over. Other than that...and a fast defrag on my HD that holds P3D, since updating yesterday afternoon, very good results. I wonder if Rob would be kind enough now, to tell us all exactly WHAT was the problem with the prior Client, to cause the pause/stop animation sequences? It would be personally interesting to know that. Rob?
  18. I did Content as well, as a just in case....left Scenery alone. Results? Perfectly smooth performance, no more pause and animation freezes.
  19. Perfectly smooth...no more pauses and animation freezes on my system. No changes in sim, to achieve this other than I replaced the Client and the Content, leaving Scenery alone, and deleted my Shader Folder, before first run wit HF2.
  20. Thank you all, a wonderful area to sim in...I enjoy landing out in the cove and then water taxi to dock.
